He deserves to start in Yao's place anyways, what a joke. Yao gets start after start in the all star game for being an average player. These selections are an even bigger joke than the nhl ones. The best 2 players in the league(Nash/Nowitzki) aren't starting? Jesus Christ that's retarded.

You can blame the population of china for those starters. I mean Shane Battier had more votes than Amare LOL. They got as many rockets as they could on the team because of yao.

Nash and Nowitzki deserve to be there, but since when is Yao an average player ?

Yao was having his best year before he got injured. Nothing wrong with him getting voted in as a starter.

Nash not starting is an absolute abomination.

Based on name, not play.

Fan balloting is a popularity contest plain and simple.

Also I think that Tim Duncan should be moved to center and Dirk Nowitzki should start at PF instead of Amare getting the start.

There's talk of Duncan going to center, McGrady going to SF and Nash starting at point. I think that makes alot of sense. Putting Duncan at center and starting Dirk at one of the forward spots makes just as much sense. Hopefully Amare doesn't replace Yao.

That would work too.

It's pathetic that the two leading MVP candidates aren't even starting.

Yes, yes it is. If Amare starts because he plays center, that would be garbage. Either Dirk or Nash should start.

Yep. The 2 best players in the NBA right now (arguably) are not even starting? Really stupid and looney. That's like Crosby and Ovechkin not starting in an NHL all star game.

Shaq shouldn't be starting or even playing for that matter and Yao should not be starting. You'd think NBA fans would be smarter than this.:shakehead

Oh, I'm loving the fact that Vince got edged out by Arenas....GO BOSH GO!

Sure he is. Amare's playing better recently but he's still not back to his pre-injury self. You can look at your traditional statline, PER, or from just watching their play over the full season (not just the one head to head).

Yao isn't playing at all, and Stoudemire is one of the top 3 shooters in the league. Nobody comes down the lane fearing Yao, but everybody fears STAT.

I think it's a safe bet that Melo and Josh Howard will be named the reserves for Yao and Boozer. Well, since Stern is making the picks, maybe not Melo because of the suspension, although I think he might allow him to play, as he does deserve it, leading the league in scoring and all.

Despite Shaq being a no show this year and getting hurt non stop i have no issue w/ him being in the game because he really is a legend and before we know hes gonna be gone for good so its good too see him out there...

One thing though is they should absoultely expand the roster to 13 or 14 players

New York’s Nate Robinson will defend his crown in the 2007 Sprite Slam Dunk competition to be held on NBA All-Star Saturday Night presented by EA SPORTS™, Feb. 17 at Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas.

Robinson will compete against three first-time entrants – Boston’s Gerald Green, who is an alumnus of the NBA Development League, Orlando’s Dwight Howard and Chicago’s Tyrus Thomas – for this year’s title.

Seems like a weak crop. I can't believe the league would let Robinson enter if they won't select Melo for the game

The NBA is all about defending your title. They forced Steve Nash into that other challenge last year because they said that he needed to defend his title even though he didn't want to do it.

Dallas Mavericks forward Josh Howard and Denver Nuggets forward Carmelo Anthony have been named by NBA Commissioner David Stern to replace injured West All-Stars Yao Ming (right knee) of the Houston Rockets and Carlos Boozer (left fibula) on the Western Conference Roster for the 2007 NBA All-Star Game on Sunday, February 18 in Las Vegas.

Allen Iverson may have to sit out the All-Star game after aggravating an ankle.
