Vbookie FAQ's & Answers

Posted by Pistachio on the Vbookie Other Sports Forum

Q.What is it?
A.Its a betting system, allowing you to bet, only "vMoney" is involved.

Q.How do you bet?
A.You place a number in the box to the right of the option you want to bet on, and click the "Place Bet" button beneath the options. If you want your bet to be made private, make sure to click the approperate box

Q: Can my bet(s) be reversed or negated?
A: Once a bet is placed, it cannot be reversed.
If you bet twice for the same team by mistake, Mods/Admins cannot go in and give the vcash for one of those bets back to you. We simply don't have the ability to do so. Please be cautious when placing your wagers and review your bets before you hit return.

Q.How to you create a vBookie event?
A. First, you must be a sponser or staff. It is a lot like creating a poll. You create the thread, then you click the "Yes, post a vBookie Event with this thread" under Additional Options. You then select the event, the bettable options, the odds, the time to accept bets till, and the time that you pay out whats owed. Make sure to uncheck the "Same as 'Accept Bets Until' date", or you will get a strange time. Keep in mind that you can only bet on short term events, such as individiual games, series' and other events that apply.

Q. How does one become a sponsor and eligible to create events?
A. Become a sponsor (http://hfboards.com/payments.php)

Q.Why can you only bet on short term events?
A. Because long term bets (such as a "Who will win the Super Bowl" in august) tie up the server, causing massive slowdown.

Q.How does betting work?
A. vBookie uses straight odds, avoiding point spreads and keeping it simple.

Q.How do odds work?
A. The numbers next to the teams are the odds. The number in parenthisis is the amount paid out to every dollar. Lets say you placed one "vDollar" on Minnesota. If Minnesota wins the game, you would get the dollar you bet, plus 88 "vCents." They are the favorite team. The favorite is indicated by the "F" next the the odds. Toronto is the underdog, so they have lesser odds of winning the game. If you put one "vDollar" on Toronto, and they won, you would recieve the bet back, plus 1.04 "vDollars" back, because Toronto had worse odds. If the team you bet on doesnt win, you lose all money wagered on that bet.

Q. Who can settle events?
A. Sponsors and moderators may only edit and settle their own events.

Q. Can vcash be donated to others?
A. No.

Q. What happens if I go vbroke?
You can't go vbroke. If you bet it all and lose, you'll find 50 vbucks in your account the next day.

Q. How do I check the vbookie standings? Where do I stand compared to others?
A. Vbookie Statistics Page (http://hfboards.com/vbookie.php?do=stats)

Q. Can events include propositions and other unsual occurances? ie. Light The Lamp
A. Yes, but only moderators can create events for which no odds are published. In other words, only moderators of this forum can create events and make up our own odds.

Happy Betting,
-Your Mods.

It's 50 now. You'll have to wait a day or sooner. For mods and sponsors, we get 50 back as soon as we create a new Vbookie thread (only if we're at 0) as I found that out last night from my 16 bets on the Crosby/Malkin/Ovechkin/Semin thread even though I was at 0 and didn't win any Vcash.

50 for anyone as soon as another event is created, actually.

Oh ok. I wasn't aware of that. Wish that Vbookie thread had more explainations on how Vbookie works. It doesn't matter as I created the 14 games last night and the 1 event, I was betting 50 on the Crosby, etc... event every time I created a new game/event.

You guys badly need to implement vLoansharks to vLoan vMoney. If you don't vRefund the vMoney, the vLoansharks can have you vWhacked.

Hmmm then again the vCops would start vBusting the vLoansharks in the business.

...forget it.

Is there anything you can do with vcash? I know it's not real money but there should be at least some incentive to accumulate it. I kind of feel bad for the two guys with over a million vcash, imagine how rich they'd be if they'd just used real money?

I'm sure everyone would, if you could start with a free $500 and receive $50 every time you go bankrupt.

Nope. Vcash is for entertainment purposes only and the everyone's vcash totals are reset prior to the regular season.

Joking aside, the rule is "There is no refund, period!". That's the rule. The only way a refund will be given is if a bet was wrongly settled and the event has to be abandoned. Even if you place your V$$$ on the wrong team, it will not (and can't) be refunded.

I'm just throwing this out there, but you guys should really consider giving everyone a substantial amount of free vCash before the start of the season. Just a one time bonus so that we all have a little extra cash to work with, allowing everyone to bet on EVERYTHING. A couple grand, nothing crazy, just a little boost. Just like the Jeff Cowan bra throwing event in which we couldn't determine the results, so the AWESOME moderating staff decided to be nice and award everyone a win, just to boost our accounts before the playoffs.

I'm not sure how it affects the server, but if there's no difference..... :)

1. Members have never been able to donate vcash to other members as far as I know. You might think it would be a good idea to allow donations, but if we did, alot of posters would be going around asking for unsolicited vcash donations.

2. No.

I believe when vcash was first introduced, you could donate to other members. But, that was taken away at the same that vtheft and vstore and all of that was taken away.

does it give you 50 automatically when you go below that? because I bet 25 and lost yesterday, bet my other 25 and won 42

so I should have 67, but it gave me an extra 50 so I have 117, surely that's not a big deal though...

The only thing I see where you can bet on a tie is the Home Goals and Away goals threads...

I believe on those he adds up the final goals scored for the home teams and away teams.. the OT and SO results would count..

They can end up adding up to the same amout..So, there can be a tie there..:D

You can only earn Vcash by winning, unless you get to 0 in which case you will be given 50 "bucks" the next time an event is posted.

A shootout win in hockey is still a win unless the tie option is given but that doesn't happen.

You're either trying to bet after the event is closed. Or you have to many infraction points and are banned from making a bet.

31st Dec 2012 Ottawa vs Kingston I think it is.
Thought it was maybe because the game was postponed so checked ohl site and see Kingston won 7-5.
Is this a glitch or can someone help?

To bet on events that are on the two vbookie boards.

And... when do we use vcash? Can we buy anything with it? Can we convert it to real cash?

Nope it's just used to place bets on vbookie events.. It's just for fun.

n00b question: Where can I check my vCash balance? I don't see it in the User CP or View Profile pages.

<---- look at the box with your name over here on the side all the way at the bottom it shows vcash right under the number of posts you've made.

Hi,

I am trying to bet on the Sabres vs Rangers game and the thread is close.

When threads are closed, it means when the moderator made the thread, there were no odds available yet. If they don't post the odds by 3:30 PM, anyone could post the event. So if Tachycineta doesn't have it up by then, I'll edit it for you.

Edit - They're up now.

Don't really have anyone who wants to do them.
