GDT: Columbus at Colorado

A win by the Jackets tonight in Colorado would be monumental in at least two ways:

1. Total victories against the Avs in the history of the franchise: 0

2. It would be a road win; how many of those do the Jackets have so far this season?: 0.

I have a feeling that if the Jackets do win tonight that The Rapture will take place tomorrow morning and that Jesus will take all the good people to Heaven with Him.

Notice how I didn't add the phrase "like me" in that previous statement.

As far as the score goes, I'll say it will be something like 5-2, Avs. Boy, am I going out on a limb on that one.

We will see.

Blowout Either Way.

I going to be scared to watch this one. Of course I will, but.....*shudder*http://hfboards.com/images/smilies/frown.gif. If the Rapture follows, I'll go to hell a happy man.

7-2 Avs. Even with Foppa and Kayria out of the lineup, they have way more firepower than our AHL-grade defense can handle. Freddy should get the start, but the paper says Denis, and they are wrong most of the time so...

Let's be optimistic and say the Jackets come out buzzing to get the two things Foley mentioned. The buzz continues after a Lewtowski garbage goal. We will take a 3-0 first period lead, and the buzz remains. Colorado will score one late in the first. We come up flat for the 2nd Colorado ties it. We come out strong in the 3rd and get the GWG from who else? Nash.
4-3 win. Goals (Letowski, Vyborny, Wright, Nash)

I fully expect to win this game, by a score of 3-2.

We will see a lot more of Nash/Zherdev together, and I'd be intrigued to see Cassels play the middle a little bit. It'd be nice if Nash/Zherdev could get some chemistry going, which it sounded like they were, but it'd be even better to get Cassels going with the emotional Zherdev right now.

CBJ: Nash, Zherdev, Malhotra
AVS: Sakic(2)

I've been tempted recently to start up a "Jacket's First Road Win" pool, but I wasn't sure whether wagering was permitted on HF, and I was worried about the logistics of carrying the pool into next season, w/o a winner :D

At any rate, the CBJ have nothing to lose here---they certainly aren't expected to win this one. I'd be happy seeing the team play hard throughout, and not go el foldo after the first bad break.

Hopefully I'm not talking to myself during this GDT.

Sauve in for the Avs, while Denis starts for the good guys. Why is Denis in, though? I'm one of the bigger Denis backers around here...but the dood needs to sit for a few games.

Good start so far. Zherdev is *** sick.

YOU WON't OZZIE!!!

Denis can handle it...the only problem is, when he lets in one bad goal...they tend to come in bunches, and against the hAVEs, thats not what we need.

Dare I say it....I think our AHL Defense has been playing well, minus "errick" of course. Anders Errickson has looked every bit an NHL D man since his callup.

I'll be checking in, just so you aren't lonely. I like it so far - we look hungry. Malhotra's line is humming.

Donde esta el defenso?

Sydor got SMOKED. Why are so many defenseman not playing the pass and letting the netminder handle the shooter? Tie up his stick and let Denis stop what he can see. Try to do it all and you end up looking, well, like we just looked!

KeithBWhittington

I know we want to win this game...but Doug threw out Nash and Zherdev together against the Preds pretty much most of the third...

how bout a Nash-Fritsche-Zherdev line...if not for just one shift?

What was that? Someone on this team can actually rush up the ice and gain the blue line without dumping the puck in?

its gonna be a long night for Nasher... Foote has been on him so far...maybe move Malhotra up a line and try to get nasher some more time?

Sakic's yearly numbers against columbus are better then some lower level
teams second line forwards...

1-0, and I went to the door to talk to my neighbor---couldn't have been more then 2 minutes. Come back, and it's 3-0.

What happened??

Nah. He doesn't excite me. Haven't you read the reports? We practically kidnapped this boy. We're lucky not to be prosecuted by international courts. He'll be returned to his rightful owners as soon as the mob can find our cowtown on a map.

We totally got outskilled tonight. We keep creating quality scoring chances but nothing seems to bounce in the net. Who else is sick of watching Sanderson with oodles of speed up the wing stop and curl on the blueline?

Sheesh. 5-1 w/no Forsberg, no Kariya. Could of been worse---Roy always shut the CBJ out. :(

Well look at it this way.

If the Russian Mob comes looking for him, they're gunna stick out like a sore thumb. It'd be like wearing a Michigan hat on Capitol Square, they don't have that cannon facing the Palace Theatre for nothing.
