"NBA sources say the Dallas Mavericks have been pursuing a deal to acquire Nuggets forward Eduardo Najera (http://www.denverpost.com/sports/ci_5269645). The deal could involve Mavs guard Anthony Johnson. The Nuggets, however, don't seem to have anything strong brewing before Thursday's trade deadline." Denver Post (http://www.denverpost.com/sports/ci_5269645)

"The Cleveland Cavaliers and at least two other teams have inquired about Marcus Banks, and the Suns might be willing to move him as a way to shed payroll (http://www.eastvalleytribune.com/story/84481) he makes more than $20 million over the next four years without getting anything back. But Phoenix would require a significant contributor in return to consider moving Thomas, who still has one year left on his contract at $8 million." East Valley Tribune (http://www.eastvalleytribune.com/story/84481)

"The Mavericks are said to be one of the teams interested in the 37-year-old P.J. Brown (http://www.dailysouthtown.com/sports/266096,211SPT8.article) in advance of the trade deadline on Thursday afternoon. "I haven't heard that, but it's an interesting possibility," said Brown, who added of the perks of a Cuban-owned team, "They got a great record and a nice locker room. They got lots of nice things there. I wouldn't have a problem with that." Daily Southtown (http://www.dailysouthtown.com/sports/266096,211SPT8.article)

"Pat Riley confirmed teams have been calling about forward James Posey as Thursday's trade deadline nears. He said he does not envision a move (http://www.sun-sentinel.com/sports/basketball/heat/sfl-spheat21feb21,0,4211918.story?coll=sfla-sports-heat) and said of word that Nets guard Jason Kidd is being dangled: "It's all over the place, but it hasn't come up with us. We'd be the last place it's going to happen." South Florida Sun-Sentinel (http://www.sun-sentinel.com/sports/basketball/heat/sfl-spheat21feb21,0,4211918.story?coll=sfla-sports-heat)

"One exec said there was a 50-50 chance of a (Vince Carter) trade. It was not immediately clear what teams pursued Carter (http://www.nypost.com/seven/02212007/sports/nets/no_vin_situation__nets_fred_kerber.htm), who will make $16.36 million next year if he bypasses free agency. Nets president Rod Thorn insisted there was "nothing, not at all" on the horizon, but added, "You never know, things can develop." New York Post (http://www.nypost.com/seven/02212007/sports/nets/no_vin_situation__nets_fred_kerber.htm)

"Jason Kidd was still a Net yesterday, and two people familiar with the team's trade discussions said the All-Star point guard appears likely to remain in New Jersey (http://www.newsday.com/sports/printedition/ny-spkidd215103044feb21,0,2680209.story?coll=ny-sports-print) beyond tomorrow's NBA trade deadline. The Nets have had "a lot of discussions" with the Lakers about Kidd, one of the people said, but team president Rod Thorn hasn't been presented with an enticing deal." New York Newsday (http://www.newsday.com/sports/printedition/ny-spkidd215103044feb21,0,2680209.story?coll=ny-sports-print)

"The Lakers would probably include a package of young players, expiring contracts and draft picks, like centers Kwame Brown and Chris Mihm, point guard Jordan Farmar and guard Aaron McKie (http://www.nytimes.com/2007/02/21/sports/basketball/21nets.html). The Nets are looking for an impact player like the young center Andrew Bynum, whom the Lakers have been unwilling to give up." New York Times (http://www.nytimes.com/2007/02/21/sports/basketball/21nets.html)

"League sources said Tuesday that veteran swingman Morris Peterson, a free-agent-to-be who was featured in trade rumours, will likely finish the season with the club (http://www.globesports.com/servlet/story/RTGAM.20070220.wsptraptors20/GSStory/GlobeSportsBasketball/home). One reason is that he was never as eager to be moved as was advertised, and his recent play averaging 12.7 points a game on 55.6-per-cent shooting in February has made Raptors management less inclined to tinker with the lineup." Globe and Mail (http://www.globesports.com/servlet/story/RTGAM.20070220.wsptraptors20/GSStory/GlobeSportsBasketball/home)

"The Pistons are said to be shopping: Nazr Mohammed, Dale Davis and Flip Murray... Any of these players could become Pistons: (http://www.freep.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070221/SPORTS03/702210327/1051) Chucky Atkins (Memphis), Mike James (Minnesota), Morris Peterson (Toronto)." Talks between the Nets and The Clippers have really heated up as well (sorry no link but they are out there). It seems to me that if the Nets can trade VC then Kidd will be dealt too.

From the Lakers side, Phil jackson was on the radio this morning saying that if the deal is not done today (Kidd) it won't happen...because at that point they will turn to plan B (whatever that is).

I fully expect the Lakers to make a splash...but how big remains to be seen :dunno:

I love trade deadlines :yo:

Very possible, he was on their list last summer but he wanted too much money at the time so they signed Vlad Rad instead.

The only question I have about it is that I don't see the Suns helping the Lakers or vice-versa.

That's why I see Cleveland as the more likely destination for Banks.

What about looking to Seattle for either Ridnour or Watson? There were strong rumours the other day that Atlanta was going hard after Ridnour.

What about looking to Seattle for either Ridnour or Watson? There were strong rumours the other day that Atlanta was going hard after Ridnour.

Laker fans have wanted Watson ever since he complained about playing times a few months ago. However, there seems to be no interest from the Lakers. Phil has a very specific player in mind when it comes to a PG and being 6' 1" or under will not cut it.

Rumors are swirling now that Phil just inked a 5 year extension that will move him into the front-office when that's complete. That tells me he likes the direction that the team is going and thinks he can get another ring.

*edit* Andre Miller would be a great fit IMO, but I think Philly is going to hang on to him now.

Oh and regarding Marcus Banks...He was actually a Laker for a few hours when they traded Rick Fox and Gary Payton to the Celtics. Gary pouted and would not report on time so the Celtics got to switch up Banks with Chucky Atkins.

There was actually a picture at the press conference and Banks was holding up a Laker jersey with his name on the back. :(

The Toronto Raptors are expected to let Thursday's 3 p.m. deadline pass without making a trade.

The Kings considered it but declined while inviting Cleveland to come back with another offer that includes more expiring dollars.

Kidd To Lakers Done? : The Buzz after the Nets loss tonight, has everyone believing Jason Kidd is being traded to the Lakers. Kidd basically told media that he enjoyed his time in New Jersey and fully expects to be traded by the 3pm trade deadline. It’s not clear which side budged on the deal, but informed sources believe Brian Cook, Kwame Brown and Jordan Farmar are coming to New Jersey. The deal is not expected to be announced until tomorrow.
