Which 3 players would have been the most dominant the NCAA assuming they spent a minimum of 2 years?
There are a million canidates but heres the guys i can think of
K.Bryant
L.James
A.Stoudemire
K.Garnett
T.Mcgrady
J.Oniel
D.Howard
E.Curry
J.Johnson
Rashard Lewis
T.Chandler
JR Smith
Josh Smith
A.Jefferson
G.Green
M.Ellis
S.Telfair

My picks and why are

A.Stoudemire-Just too physically gifted ala Greg Oden now

L.James-Would have been insane how he woulda tore up NCAA

D.Howard-see A.Stoudemire

edit-i went w/ 3 because pretty much everyone IMO woulda put in one of these 3 guys,so using 3 may lead to more varied responses

Eddy Curry- There just aren't players like this in college basketball, he would have dominated.

LeBron James- No need to explain

Dwight Howard- See Greg Oden.

How many of these guys that skipped school and went straight to the NBA, did so because they couldn't have met the academic requirement?

The black guys.

jk!

but Garnett is more of a genetic freak than Howard or Stoudemire, IMO.

Those guys are strictly power guys. Garnett brings the power element but he has the finesse aswell. He can dribble pretty well for a man his size has great foot work, can shoot long distances.

Carmelo Anthony

(Yeah, in his one season he led his team to the Championship,if 'Melo stayed another year I don't see any team coming close to beating Syracuse with Carmelo Anthony,Gerry McNamara and Hakim Warrick.)

I saw him make a three last night vs LAL like it was nothing to him. He needs to be on a better team.

1. Lebronze --- He was able to dominate NBA games as a rookie, he would have destroyed the college scene becasue he was already in a Man's body.

2. KG --- KG took a couple seasons to develop his NBA game out of HS, but I think he would have dominated college as well.

3. Kobe --- He would have gone to Duke had he gone to college, with his will to win and coach K's guidance I think Kobe would have killed all teams he played against.

Above all else, I think LBJ has to get the #1 because of his physique coming out of HS. I mean the guy looked like a freakin 30 year old at age 18 while KG and Kobe were bean stalks at 18.

If Wade woulda stayed too, Marquette woulda beat them.

I agree and I think being drafted by anyone other than MJ would have helped the kid too. He was another who had one of those 18 going on 30 NBA bodies. IMO he has one of the most "body builder" type physiques in the NBA. One of the few players that I have seen put the body to Shaq and actually contain him.

Now if he can only learn to hold on to the damn ball...

Telfair would have been great at Louisville. I bet he wished he went to college now.

I think it screwed him up BIG time. The kid was shell shocked when he came to LA and it took until a few games before the Suns series that he finally seemed to realize what a beast he was in the paint. I still think that come playoff time, he will again find his touch and really help out.

He's never going to live up to the hype a #1 pick should fulfill...But he is no Olowakandi (Nowitzki, Paul Pierce, Mike Bibby, were all drafted lower).

I tend to think any point guard who skipped college was a fool. It's the most mental position in b-ball and there's a lot to learn about the game at college.

Big money tends to sway peoples opinions very easily.

I agree Shaun Livingston could have benefitted from playing for Coach K

Yup, but, look at a guy like Telfair, he isn't going to be getting many raises, if he had played a year or two of college, he could have improved tremendously and end up making bigger money.

I think that their agents tell them to rather go for the short term money even if they could get more long term.

They can't have agents until after they declare for the draft. As soon as a player hires an agent, they lose their amatuer eligability.

I wasnt sure about that but still, the players usually go for the short term money rather than stay in college and get more down the road.

They still have agents. They just don't pay them till they go pro. Most agents are "family advisors" when their client is in the college ranks. I'd assume many top prospects would have these "advisors".
