A better way to look at PK numbers, or at least I think so.

Here, very simply, is the number of minutes it takes other teams to score on you when you are penalty-killing.

Note: To be fair, SH goals are factored in here too, just deducted from the PP goals against.

So in other word, 1 of every 8 powerplays will yield a goal against for the Coyotes. That figures to be a 87.5% PK success rate...and the NHL currently ranks the Coyotes at 81.1% PK success, so we are slightly better than advertised. Of course we are consider 26/30 in the league by standard rules, and these rules say we are 25/30. I agree though, I've always thought it was somewhat silly to compare PP and PK numbers soley based on the single opportunities and not the time involved. A 5 minute power play should not count the same as a 2 minute, just the same a 10 second power play shouldn't count the same as a 2 minute.

much better system...same crappy results :cry:
