Phaneuf or Weber

I've often seen people here saying that they would take Weber over Phaneuf. I want to know the proportion.

Sorry if it has already been posted... I haven't seen it.

Weber has a better all-around game, imo. And I believe he's physically stronger.

Shea weber has really impressed me this year,I will go with him

Flames fan here. Right no I'll take Weber. He's just so much more solid than Dion is right now. In the future it is a tossup though, Phaneuf will always have that mean streak and flash that Weber does not.

Someone had said somewhere on HF that Weber is hotter now, but Phaneuf will have the better overall career. I just have this hunch that that will happen. Color me crazy. So I'll go with Phaneuf.

Once upon a time (bout a year ago) this one would have been a blowout. Why is that? I watched Phaneuf last night and he seemed pretty active but he got caught out of position a few times that ended up dangerous.

They are both unbelievable. I cant wait to see them together in the red and white for team canada for the next 15 years.

Weber.

Dion Phaneauf is better. He may not be skill wise but he has those MONSTER hits (see his denis hamal) that get fans out of their seats. He's a moneymaker.

Phaneuf has struggled defensively this season.. but I would put them as even right now. Weber will be better in the future though, this isn't a knock at Phaneuf. Weber will mature into a more offensive Adam Foote.

Weber. He doesn't get nearly the media attention that Phaneuf gets because of his location in Nashville and our lack of national TV games. I just don't think a lot of people without CI or those who don't watch the Predators really know how special Weber is.

Phaneuf isn't that much meaner than Weber. And their true physicality is very similar. Weber is such a punishing player. What makes Phaneuf flashy is that he looks for the big hit a lot more than Weber. Weber's been very smart at taking the hit when it's there. And I'm impressed with his restraint in going after it when it's not there. Don't mistake Weber's heady defensive play with lacking a mean streak.

Weber, obviously, since I'm the on that started the Weber>Phaneuf uproar.


Weber will be the best defenseman in the league within 3 years.
