After one period...he's looked solid. Let's see how he does the rest of the game and discuss him after the game.

Nice to see that Reds is tied amongst dmen for the goal lead now as well! :)

Well...at the 2nd intermission...the shutout bid is over, but damn...he didn't have a chance on that one.

The last minute of the period...the Sens are very lucky to still have a 2 goal lead. Thank you Ray!

We now have Leshychyn and Pusslivy out of the game.

Should be a good 3rd period...nice to see the Sens matching the Blackhawks intensity level for the most part.

Oh yeah...and don't let me ever say anything bad about Havlat again or offer him in a trade.

If not, please bookmark this thread and refer me to this post.

well...considering we were playing the 2nd worst team in the NHL...it was a good outing. If they can do this against some of the better teams in the NHL...then I'll be truely happy.

But it's a good start.

Hossa, Razor, Havlat

I’ve been waiting three years to see Havlat, Bonk, and Hossa play together at even strength, and I missed the game last night. I wonder if they’ll stay together of if it was just temporary.

probably just temporary because Pusslivy went down with a bobo...Historically, Havlat hasn't been very effective on the LW, but if it does become a trend 5 on 5 (Havlat plays the LW on the PP)...it could prove to be a very, very dangerous line.

That's awesome. I gotta make this my desktop (replacing the Battle of Hastings).

ObGame: It sure sounded like the fans were really behind Emery last night. Is it just me or has he quietly become one of the most beloved players on the Sens? I sure hope everyone's hopes don't come crashing down to earth if Emery just proves to be merely 'good' instead of 'great'.

just imagine the first time he'll drop the glove and blocker at home and give them a 5 knuckle introduction to a tough goalie.

the crowd will go NUUUTS!

I was there, the first game I've been at this year. All things considered, the fans seemed to really like this guy. I expected a lot of "who is this guy?" talk, but everybody seemed to know the guy.

He was impressive. He is big, looks bigger than Lalime, and he also doesn't go down too early, something Patty's been doing a bit too much this year. A big guy who will stay up, covers lots of net and has fantastic natural reflexes and athleticism, that's a nice combination. Oh, and I think he fights a bit too.

I didn't want to make a new thread about this here and clog up your boards, so since this thread is about Emery I have a question. Should he be sticking with the Senators now and getting some starts as backup? I need a goalie for fantasy hockey, and I figured since Emery has good potential (it's a keeper at Yahoo), I could pick him up.

Thanks.

He's still very young. He wouldn't be able to handle the NHL right now, and woudn't be good for his development.

Playing 60 games in the AHL will serve him much better than Sitting for 60 games in the NHL.

If he's available in a keeper league...grab him while you can. I'm quite surprised that he'd be available. We should see Emery as a starter here in 2-4 years.

Thanks for the help. I'll probably look into making a spot on the bench for him. (The keepers at Yahoo just count points for players in the NHL, so I'll just have to save him on the bench for a little bit).
