V-Train 04-24-2007, 04:56 PM That sucks.
FSN doesn't even have a conflict on Thursday. What I want to know is if FSN chose not to broadcast or if they aren't allowed to.
EDIT: Actually, I take it back, it doesn't suck. I'll take VS/NBC in HD with their announcers over FSN in SD.

Weird how the only non-national TV game is Game 3, which is often the best of a series IMHO. Well, Poor Cableless Me is happy with all the VS/NBC games.
TradeBell, asap* 04-24-2007, 05:07 PM I'll be interested in reading the reasoning behind only having one game on FSN. They showed, what, 4? 5? games last round. Wonder if it's financially based decision?

VS is showing the game too. The only non-national games of any series are Games 1 and 7(!) of NJ-OTT.
zephir0th 04-24-2007, 05:13 PM Thought I read somewhere that VS won't be airing any Thursday or Friday games in HD.. could be wrong. That would suck if its true though. After watching games in HD, going back to SD is just torture.

I was just going to post this, sadly you are right. It says so here on the full Versus schedule:

I checked out FSN Detroit's schedule, and they are covering 3, 6, and 7. According to their page, VS and NBC have the exclusive rights to their respective games.
According to nhl.com, thursday's game is in HD. :dunno:

TrappedInFullerton 04-24-2007, 05:33 PM Doesn't the game on Thursday conflict with the other hockey game on VS?
GAME 1: SENATORS @ DEVILS THU 7:00 PM
GAME 1: SHARKS @ RED WINGS THU 7:30 PM
Hmmm, lucky the Sens @ Devils game isn't on VS. So no conflict

Edit: I see you answered your own question.
StanJohns 04-24-2007, 06:16 PM went to have the oil changed last week, and walked over to the cable office to pay the bill.
while there i inquired about converting my analog to digital cable, in anticipation of this occuring. our muni cable tv offers VS as a part of a $2.00 add on with a few other sports channels. prices for each cable are drawing closer, so good time to make the change.
they tell me that they CANT DO ANY MORE CONVERSIONS UNTIL EARLY MAY.
try calling back the last week of April they say.......oh yeah, ill be calling tomorrow.
i have to think that VS is getting increased exposure, but until they can be offered in a majority of cable systems as a top tier cable channel, then we will continue to have to put up with this.
honestly, if VS telecast all of the NHL playoffs, and we could see these games, then i wouldnt care if FSNBA ever showed another game. sorry to Randy and Marty, but FSNBA just doesnt care enough about the Sharks. they have always been third class citizens, and i will consider it especially gratifying if the Sharks were to win a championship before the Giants, As, or Warriors while under the FSNBA umbrella.
im one of those fools who has to tape/dvd every game, so i get particularly disturbed when this happens. i have seats and will be at the games, but i like to come home and review them and save for my own nostalgia.
im going to pull the tapes of our first, and maybe even our second, series against Detroit........get a little pre series taste.

well, what with baseball going on and the warriors in the playoffs, it leaves for less spots on FSN. but since now there are fewer teams,VS has is capable of showing all the games (only two a day, except for the detroit home games).

This is why it pays to get Starchoice, Canadian Satellite in California (I have it in the Bay Area, mostly to watch the HD East Coast feeds of major US networks, but also for this exact time so I get to watch the Sharks in HD as much as possible). I can choose between Versus/NBC, or TSN, both in HD.
chrisdg 04-25-2007, 02:41 PM Playing Detroit definitely brought us the national NBC level coverage for the weekend games... let's just hope that the early start times that NBC demands (11am and noon PT) don't have too much of an impact on the Shark players... traditionally, the Sharks (and probably all west coast teams) have a bit of trouble being totally pumped and ready for those early games.
