SteveY-greatcaptain! 12-31-2003, 01:04 PM Yes, I think it is great that CANADA has finished 1st in their group, as I am Canadian aswell, (I am from British Columbia.) This Canadian team seams to be in top form, which is excellent for Canadian hockey fans. You must be really interested in following hockey teams representing CANADA, since last year's World Junior Hockey Championship was held in your home city, Halifax. I wonder if you attended any of last year's games in N.S. I have been following CANADA's efforts at the WJHC for about 4 years now Well, here's to CANADA's team performing well in Finland!! Also, here's to a great year gone by, and hope for a fabulous 2004 Hip-Hip Hurray!!! bleedgreen 01-02-2004, 08:01 AM anybody know how danny richmond is doing for usa? i found it interesting that he almost made the canes this year. is our d that bad or his he that good? HughJass* 01-04-2004, 08:41 AM I'm having a hard time opening up .pdf's at the moment, but you can check www.usahockey.com ;) bleedgreen 01-05-2004, 10:42 AM just watched the wjc gold medal game. usa came back from 3-1 to win. danny richmond had two assists-and looked pretty impressive. he wasnt on the top pairings but still got both assists five on five. he jumps in the play alot, and doesnt mind carrying the puck. that was his only problem, he tried to force it a couple times and turned the puck over. he has about as much offensive skill as tanabe did back then, but he is much more aggressive in his own end from what i saw. i heard they didnt mind trading tanabe with richmond coming - i could see that after today. i still cant believe we didnt draft pat o'sullivan with that pick, though. he's a sniper. HughJass* 01-06-2004, 10:38 AM Well, you know the deal with O'Sullivan. He is originally from Wilmington, NC but he has major issues with his father who still lives there. Him being that close to home and that close to the major cause of his bad reputation (he's been labeled "possible headache" by some scouts) I'm sure Rutherford made it a point to not draft the kid. bleedgreen 01-06-2004, 10:44 AM i didnt realize his dad lives so close, i followed the story from here in CO. if thats the case i could see the issue, i just feel he will end up getting past all the labels tossed at him. he was rated in the top 10 of last years draft, and that says a lot about howtalented he is. im sure the situation influenced his status which is unfotunate - its not his fault his dads a freak. the head case would seem to be his dad, not him. though im sure in reaction to his situation he behaved improperly at the time, i would think a lot of 16/17 years would have done the same. im rooting for him to turn it around, i was happy for him yesterday-he played awesome. HughJass* 01-07-2004, 05:57 AM Yeap, that's the only reason O'Sullivan is eligible to play on the USA squad. He lived in NC until he was 3 (if I recall correctly), then went to live with relatives in Canada. I'll try to find the article on him later. It was circulating on the Canes official board around draft time. EDIT: Actually, here's the latest article on him explaining it somewhat (and better than I): http://www.globeandmail.com/servlet/story/RTGAM.20040105.wosullivan05/BNStory/Sports/ | ||
