There's an interesting page that has a list of players born in Ukraine or have very strong roots, there are some suprises (Dainius Zubrus) even i'm not sure where that came from, but he's on the list.
Link: http://www.hockey.org.ua/Players/index.htm
If we followed that list, the Ukrainian National Hockey team would look something like this...
Forwards:
-Nikolai Zherdev
-Andrei Mikhonov
-Igor Shastin
-Alexei Mikhonov
-Denis Shvidki
-Evgeny Lazarev
-Alexei Ponikarovsky
-Gennady Razin
-Dainius Zubrus
-Boris Prostenko
-Sergei Tkachenko
-Dmitri Khristich
-Ruslan Fedetenko
-Sergei Varlamov
-Anton But
Defenceman:
-Anton Babchuk
-Vitaly Vishnevski
-Dmitri Yakushin
-Oleg Tverdovsky
-Alexei Zhitnik
-Sergei Honchar (IMO)
Goaltenders:
-Konstantin Simchuk
-Igor Karpenko
Not bad, not bad at all...

never knew about Zubrus.
BTW, I am looking forward to the rematch with Lennox Lewis (if he accepts).

If Lennox doesn't accept, that would lead to that he's scared of Vitaly. Either way Vitaly's getting a title shot vs. Corrie Sanders (If Lennox Retires) or if Lennox accepts a fight...

Pretty solid team all around barring goaltending.
Just to answer on the zubrus matter, Zubrus was born in Lithuania, but he was part of that Druzhba 78 team that made a splash at the junior tournament a few years back along with fellow high draft pick and NHLer Andrei Zyuzin who was born in Russia.
As much as I like thos players, most of them will never play for the underfunded Ukrainian national team because they were developed on Russian junior teams. Players like Zherdev and Babchuk, who are likely to be good enough to play for the Russian team will play for the Russian team. So this goes for any potential Ukrainian national team superstars unless Mikhonov is more than what has been repoted of him.

Actually the Druzhba players had to get billeted to homes here in Kelowna and we were lucky enough to have Zubrus stay with us..and one other player he was #10 dont remmebr a name, got a picture and evrything to prove it haha

Isn't Anton But Ukrainian?
Your Correct, he's on the list on the link I have above...
But where is he playing his hockey these days?
