I'm a big fan of XM radio (satellite radio, if you don't know). Sirius is the big competitor of XM - same thing. You can listen to their broadcasts (100+ stations) anywhere you like with an XM or Sirius radio.
I just found out that Sirius carries a lot of NHL games, which means you can listen to the games with a Sirius radio.
A sample of today's broadcasts are:
Philadelphia Flyers @ Buffalo Sabres 124
Phoenix Coyotes @ Washington Capitals 126
Pittsburgh Penguins @ New Jersey Devils 111
Boston Bruins @ Detroit Red Wings 144
Los Angeles Kings @ Anaheim Mighty Ducks 124
In short... you can hear any of the games.
Personally, I like listening to other games instead of sitting in front of the TV all night. If you are likeminded, this might be something worth looking into.
Three things:
1) I haven't yet determined what the broadcasts are, but I assume they are local broadcasts, just like NHL radio.
2) NHL radio on the Internet is a free alternative, but I have mixed/spotty results tuning into the streaming broadcasts.
3) Both XM and Sirius charge a montly fee to use the service. I have XM and feel it's worth it. Good radio, sports, talk programming. You can use it in your house, car, at work, etc. But, it costs $, so now you know.

Look for the sports programming, there is an NHL section there.
