strungout 01-13-2004, 01:35 PM I just threw this together today...some stats for our Prospects.

I still hope the Caps sign Krestanovich...he's not having a big goal season but is really picking up the PIMS and assists.
Discuss.
EDIT: Added Roberston and fixed Joudrey
Marshall 01-13-2004, 01:44 PM Kick-ass work, Jin. Diggit.
Anybody else notice, that, quietly in his first season, Semin is a point-every-other-game player?
Plan 9 01-13-2004, 01:47 PM Very nice work. :)
nice work...thanx for doing it. that didnt take 10 minutes.
a couple of points.
1. Is anyone wondering how many points Alexander Semin might be putting up if the Caps had a respectable defense and could let the kid play and make his defensive mistakes without fear that each mistake is a goal against?
2. Does Jonas Johansson look like a player that is heading toward being signed at 1st round pick money? To me he looks more like a guy heading back into the draft. what do you think?
The Dude 01-13-2004, 03:50 PM Great job Jincargo!!
About Semin being a point every other game player: keep in mind he's doing it without getting many minutes at all. last week when he had the goal and the assist, I think he just barely cracked 10 minutes.

Much obliged, Jin, you should receive an award or something for doing this type of research and allowing all Capitals fans to see the results at various intervals.

It's not looking too good. Quite a few of us projected him to have a breakout season as long as he stayed healthy...which he has...but the points are not exactally falling in his lap. At the same time Kamloops is a very well balanced scoring team with Jacobson and Lukin. I doubt they catch Kelowna...but they should have a decent playoff run. Hopefully Johansson picks up his scoring some more...its increased from the slow start of the season.
I think they will sign him...just because of who they traded to get him.
I_r_1337 01-13-2004, 05:34 PM Re: Johansson
Understand that he's second on the team in scoring also.. it's not like he's 8th in scoring on his team.

Another good point. Well balanced team in Kamloops.
Something else I think thats worth nothing is Max #2 stats this season. Val-d'Or is 12th in scoring with only 132 goals scored (Crosby and Rimouski lead the Q with 180). Max and the defense is rated 6th in goals allowed (134) He started off the season pretty good then went into a bit of a funk in October and November going like 4-10-3 or something...yet his save % was still in the .900. .924 in October while going 3-6-1. Since the invite and eventual snub from the WCJ squad he's been winning a bit more. I recall the Caps were close to signing Gershon before the season...I wonder if his subpar season in Owen will have any effect on which of the two will be signed. Will they both be signed with the current logjam in Portland? Hmmm.
And dont get me started on if they are going to sign Wellar or not. :teach:

being second in scoring on a team that doesn't score isn't much of a recommendation. I don't think that Konowalchuk has anything to do with the Caps signing Johansson. McPhee knew that Colorado had already decided to pass on the kid. The deal also says that the Caps get a 2nd round pick if they don't sign Johansson. Taking the rights to Jonas was a free roll of the dice. If Johansson had a breakout year that would make him worth a first round pick contract, they would sign him. if not they upgraded a 3rd round pick to a 2nd.
I don't expect McPhee to sign Jonas to a 7 figure first rounder deal. If the Caps like him they can let him go back into the draft and snag with a later round pick.

That is nice work, good to see how the prospects are doing. Does anyone know if the Caps have signed Patrick Wellar? I like the kid, a hard-nosed d-man. Maybe a Rick Berry type. Jonas J. doesn't impress me all that much. It wouldn't surprise me if the Caps let him go back into the draft and take the extra pickl
Kegger 01-14-2004, 07:26 AM Don't forget Josh Robertson..
Robertson, Josh Proctor Ac 15 18 29 47 na
another note....you may want to update your stats for Joudrey.
Joudrey, Andrew Wiscons. 24 5 12 17 2
Otherwise...good job, we must be on the same wavelength because Ive been working on this for this week too! LOL.
habsfansam 01-14-2004, 07:34 AM I'm not sure where i read this earlier this year, but apparently jonas is playing very well (according to someone who saw him play live several time... can't find the source). if you look at the numbers the picture is actually really good considering he's a euro more known for is offensive prowess...
Name GP G A PTS +/- PIM PPG SHG PPG PIMPG
10 Jonas Johansson 45 15 12 27 10 44 3 0 0.60 0.98
1. PPG is way down, but he's 2nd on the team by a whopping 5 pts... he's still effectively producing points for his team
2. PIMs are WAY up... physical element being added... leadership??
3. Low scoring, relatively high +/- ---> defensive system (euro can play D too??)
These numbers look a lot like....
Name GP G A PTS +/- PIM
PATRIK ELIAS NJD C 42 13 20 33 8 16
numbers from another guy who plays in a defensive system.
I'd sign Jonas for sure... it's not like he suddenly woke up one day and LOST all his offensive potential. It's not gone, but his team is winning, he's definitely contributing, and we know he has the offense... where's the downside? You'd be a fool not to take this guy over a 2nd rounder... that much skill, decent size, defensive awareness, and you'd consider not signing him?
Also, just because P. Lacroix didn't see Jonas fitting into the Avs system doesn't mean anything... take a look at their forward depth in terms of prospects. They have dick-all. Aside from nabbing drury, hejduk, and tanguay, they've drafted like crap for years (early 90s don't count as recent history... so leave deadmarsh, lindros, etc out of this). His strong-suit is the 'big trade', not identifying young talent.
If you guys don't want him in washington, we'll take him in montreal for sure.
strungout 01-15-2004, 03:52 PM Added Roberston and fixed Joudrey.
The Dude 01-15-2004, 04:13 PM Is that a typo or is Roberston really at 47 points in 15 games?????
Kegger 01-16-2004, 12:01 AM That is not a typo. Got those directly from the head coach at Proctor Academy.
I_r_1337 01-16-2004, 04:26 PM It's high school he plays almost the entire game if I'm not mistaken.. if not the entire at LEAST half cause I think they only have 6 forwards..or thats all we had on my high school team.
jincargo 02-09-2004, 01:43 AM Here's the latest update....dont quote me on those Robertson numbers. I added all the box scores up from the 20th game on based off the stats he gave Seth in the interview. So its close... ;)

Daigenault was named player of the week last week in the Q BTW...not sure it it was mentioned anywhere.
