Welcome Canadian Jr.A fans. This is the place for you.

On this board, you will find 10 league threads. These threads will be used for league news and general league information only.

Other threads may be started here, just as any other message board at HF. One thing I ask of those of you who do start new threads, is to please put the league abbreviation as the first part of the title. Example..."BCHL: Vernon wins championship."

Here are the league abbreviations:
BCHL - British Columbia Hockey League
AJHL - Alberta Junior Hockey League
SJHL - Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League
MJHL - Manitoba Junior Hockey League
SIJHL - Superior International Junior Hockey League
NOJHL - Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League
OPJHL - Ontario Provincial Junior Hockey League
CJHL - Central Junior Hockey League
LHJAAAQ - Quebec Junior AAA Hockey League
MJAHL - Maritime Junior A Hockey League

Before the big crash, there was some Jr.B discussion in the BCHL thread. While it's not wrong to discuss it, I will ask that Jr.B and lower calibre hockey be discussed in its own thread.

Any questions about the CJAHL in general can go here and I will do my best to answer them. Either that, or you can browse the CJAHL website at www.cjahl.com

To answer the first inevitable question, here is how the CJAHL decides a national champion...

Each of the 10 leagues determines their own playoff champion with whatever format suits their league. Following the playoffs of each league, there are four regional championships which go as follows...

DOYLE CUP
A best-of-7 series between the BCHL and AJHL Champions.
The winner represents the Pacific region at the Royal Bank Cup.

ANAVET CUP
A best-of-7 series between the SJHL and MJHL Champions.
The winner represents the West region at the Royal Bank Cup.

DUDLEY HEWITT CUP
A tournament featuring the champions of the SIJHL, NOJHL, OPJHL and a host team.
The winner represents the Central region at the Royal Bank Cup.

FRED PAGE CUP
A tournament featuring the champions of the CJHL, LHJAAAQ, MJAHL and a host team.
The winner represents the Atlantic region at the Royal Bank Cup.

The four regional winners gather along with a host team to play for the Royal Bank Cup, Canada's national Junior A Championship tournament.

Hosts for the 2003/04 tournaments are as follows (Obviously, the Doyle and Anavet Cups do not have a host team):

DUDLEY HEWITT CUP: North Bay Skyhawks (NOJHL)
FRED PAGE CUP: Braves de Valleyfield (LHJAAAQ)

ROYAL BANK CUP: Grande Prairie Storm (AJHL)
