nyrmetros 02-12-2008, 09:46 PM With Nike leaving the ice hockey market, there was speculation that Nike would no longer be supplying some or all of the IIHF teams.
Germany was recently a Nike supplied team, but has now switched to RBK.

Tomas W 02-15-2008, 02:51 PM Swedens yellow shirt has darker nuances of the yellow and blue, while the blue has lighter nuances, it seems. Not sure if I like the white trims, though it's nothing wrong with a little change from the usual look now and then I guess.

The IIHF has every country's jersey on their web site......I believe they're the most up-to-date versions.
I don't see a Nike logo on them and they all appear to be slightly different than the ones used at last year's World Championships.

What did bauer ever have to do with making jerseys for the national teams? I know they made ones for Sweden many years back . but at that time Nike and Bauer werent in business together.Nike and Tackla/SP have always made jerseys for the teams since 1995. Those reebok knock offs shown above are obviously fake and horrible quality.

Nothing really. It's just that in sevewral articles about Nike selling Bauer, they said that hockey was not the best direction for the company and they said they would be getting away from it. I may have gone too far to guarantee it, but Nike said it themselves that they would be moving away from hockey.

away from hockey equipment. i think they will still produce the jerseys and socks however because they are more just materials(like shirts and pants) rather than putting R&D into a new hockey stick or new pair of skates

IIHFjerseycollector 03-09-2008, 01:06 AM i dont believe nike negotiated with each federation. i think it is based on level .. i know all top tier countries in the world championships are made by nike.. any level below it varies and usually only countries that were in the top tier at one point.. v-man 03-11-2008, 03:25 PM Nike will be making the new IIHF jerseys to be released for the 2008 World Championship in May, so it's safe to say they will be around for atleast another two years. Whether or not they will continue to provided the IIHF with jerseys after that is unknown. Nothing about the selling of Bauer would prevent them from staying in the hockey jersey business. They have lucrative deals with some of the bigger hockey nations and their merchandising divisions and it would be well worth their while to stay in the game.
As for the RBK jerseys in this thread, they are legit. There is nothing preventing national hockey federations from having someone else make their jerseys outside of the world championship and the Olympics (except for Canada and the States that have exclusive Nike agreements). Many teams get other companies (such as Lutch or RBK) to make their jerseys for smaller tournaments, where using the more expensive swift uniforms would be too costly. All of the jerseys seen on the iihf site are the dye sublimated versions used for tournaments below the elite level of play and are in most cases the same design as the swift version (other than the collar), but made by Tackla, not Nike.

TorFC-TML* 04-07-2008, 12:07 PM I was just at a local sports store that specializes in jerseys.
They had another new Canada sweater. I dont think the vintage 72 one will be their only jersey.
They had a white one that looked alot like the Coyotes current uni, but with two horizontal stripes at the waist. It has the modern team Canada logo, and the modern shoulder patches (though they seem to be moved down the arm).
It looked okay. Very early 90's-ish. I cant say I was too impessed.
I love those vintage unis though. The World Championships are going to be big this year.

Mind telling me which store this was? I wouldn't mind seeing it.
Some of the Women's teams have debut their new jerseys in China, while others are still using the old swifts. Mostly the modifications are small. The US has made the biggest change so far by adding a horizontal stripe on the bottom. Most of the other teams using the new ones (Swiss, Sweden) have only simplified their designs by getting rid of the silver curved lines on the sides and using a simple two colour vertical stripe like Canada had on their old ones. The only constant seems to be everyone now having solid colour collars instead of the silver front that all the euro teams had. Finland just changed the silver curves to blue ones.

Thanks, I'll try to get out there and check it out. I did some searching in about 5 shops in Toronto today, and the word is that Nike is screwing things up royally, asking small stores to take on way too many jerseys up front, or demanding they carry dozens of other Team Canada products as well. Since the Worlds aren't a big draw in Canada, this is hardly worth their while and most of them will wait until mid summer to carry the new products. No wonder they weren't making any money and wanted to get out of the hockey business. Apparently the release date was supposed to be April 5th or so and Sport Check is the only retailer I was told agreed to Nike's idiotic demands, so they might show up there soon. I'm heading out to Halifax and want to get my hands on one before I leave, since at past championships I've been to the jerseys the IIHF sells on site are poorer quality silk screened ones.

Because the surface is completely flat, and has no shine or reflective properties like it would were it screen printed. It's pretty distinctive. The better question would be "how can you not tell just by looking at the picture".

sorry to update an old thread, but thought this was relevant.
From the Irish Ice Hockey Associations website.
"We were also told about the IIHF's ongoing contract with Nike. In the summer of 2010 a new one would be "redrafted" and signed in May. This will be approved at Congress. From the floor, France asked if individual countries could somehow "get in on" or be involved with Nike as well on a direct level. For example, they would like their replica jerseys to be made by Nike. It was said that this was up to Nike in France, but a good idea nonetheless."
