Hi Sara

Don't worry,

We all take a shower once a day, we all shave on a rather regular basis (... i think, even though for fans of a few teams we might avoid the razors), and we probably all have social lifes. For competitive purposes, we here at the internet would like to know more about you. I have with me a standard list of questions that I ask every girl I meet. Please answer as honestly as possible.

1. Which fictional character (TV, movie, religious or otherwise) are you most like, and why?

2. What country are you most like, and why?

3. If you could eat anyone, who would it be? Why?

4. Your favourite thing to do when nobody's watching is...?

5. The Prime Minister just called. You've won a prestigious award. What is it for?

6.Moustaches are:
A) sweet
B) totally sweet

7. Big spoon or little spoon?

In the second period tonight Joe Thornton "mishandles" the puck and misses an open net scoring opportunity.

9 of his 10 NHL seasons he couldn't score more than 29 goals.

if he had even AVERAGE goal scoring ability he'd be a 40-goal scorer.

The greatness of his passing is matched by the inepitude of his goal scoring. Utterly amazing. He can get the puck andf himself in great scoring position but just can't pull the trigger.

The fans are booing but these are legit penalties on the Ducks too. Now they score, 4-0. Anaheim has come completely unglued. I'm really shocked to see the defending champs not just being outplayed, but coming totally unraveled and undisciplined.

They outplayed Dallas badly in the first 10 minutes of the game. The checking line was playing phenomonally hitting everyone and creating chances. The Getzlaf line was playing well also. Then they started taking penalty upon penalty, since about the 10 min. mark of the 1st period they've played about as poorly as they've played all year.

Yeah, for that reason alone I think Klukay would have been the pick for you guys. He's better defensively, although Holik brings more offense.

One think Holik does bring is the ability to defend against the larger centers and power forwards. Having him on the team means not having to worry about him matchup up with Beliveau at some point. He can also play wing against power forwards so he'll be useful in our division, especially against the Big Bad Bruins line of Bucky-Schmidt-Neely. One underrated aspect of his game that will be tremendously helpful late in games is his faceoff abilities. He's been quietly excellent on draws over the years.

Nonis fired. Burke back to the Nucks ???

Retarded move. They are just getting their system back into halfway decent shape after Burke's last gutting. Nonis was smart not to sell the farm for a playoff spot on a team with little hope of winning it all this season. Next year was the year with cap space for the offseason. Worse yet, a major factor in Brunnstrom choosing Vancouver was his comfort with Nonis. He might be back in play now that they've fired him. At least they shoulda waited until he was signed to do this.

Sean Avery found yet another way to annoy Martin Brodeur, and forced the NHL to change a rule in his honor.

The Hall of Fame resume of the New Jersey Devils goalie doesn’t resonate with Avery, the New York Rangers forward, who has turned agitation into an art form. During a 5-on-3 power play in New Jersey’s 4-3 overtime playoff victory Sunday night, Avery planted himself in the crease with his back to the action and faceguarded Brodeur.

Holding his stick upward, Avery waved it side to side and up and down to block Brodeur’s vision in a newfangled method of screening. Brodeur gave him a whack, but that was hardly a deterrent.

“I’ve played for 15 years in this league. I’ve been watching games for 33 years. I had never seen that in my life,” Brodeur said. “I don’t think that kind of behavior should be done in front of the net, but there is no rule for it.”

That was true Sunday, but not Monday. The NHL moved quickly to eliminate this activity by making an on-the-fly rule interpretation.

“An unsportsmanlike conduct minor penalty will be interpreted and applied, effective immediately, to a situation when an offensive player positions himself facing the opposition goaltender and engages in actions such as waving his arms or stick in front of the goaltender’s face, for the purpose of improperly interfering with and/or distracting the goaltender as opposed to positioning himself to try to make a play,” Colin Campbell, the NHL director of hockey operations said in a statement.

Actually, I like this. We can still talk hockey with our fellow GMs. Keep the draft thread for draft talk.

Surprised Nonis was canned. I thought they'd give him this off-season as a last shot, considering the good he did in the summer of 06. I guess they didn't want to chance a pivotal off-season to a guy who hasn't gotten the job done when it comes to rounding out the roster.

I don't think Burke goes back to Vancouver. I think Burke goes to Toronto, to take hockey's ultimate challenge: win a Cup for the Leafs. It's not an ideal situation for Burke, he's stubborn and there will be clashes with MLSE. But after JFJ bloopers, I think MLSE will do what they can to get the guy they want, and that's Burke.

Canucks hire Steve Tambellini. Highly thought-of guy throughout the game. Has been a big part of Canada's international successes. He's been a guy who has been in line for almost every GM's job in the league since 2002. I don't know if the Canucks fire Nonis if Tambellini wasn't there. Now will be his time. He'll have a lot of work to do this summer, and a lot of cap room to do it.

Once Linden retires, Richards will be one of my favourite players in the game, if not my favourite. Okay, Sakic will probably be my favourite, but he won't be around much longer. Milan Lucic is another who will be one of my favourites.

Richards is the kind of player I have always loved watching. I think he's one of the most exciting players in the league. And he's a great leader, too.

Forget the goal, Richards biggest contribution tonight was his effort against Ovechkin. I don't think Ovechkin's been challenged like that since he entered the league.

I certainly don't. If anything, IMO, Vancouver is much a much more likely destination for Burke than Toronto. Many assume he'll do it because of his ego and whatnot, but realistically there isn't much motivation for him to leave, other than to try and boost his ego by winning in Toronto. He hates the Toronto media, he probably does not like MLSE one bit, and he needs total control, which is questionable to come from MLSE. In Anaheim, he's close to his wife, lives in a city he loves and has complete and total control of what happens. The Samuelli's are also great owners as opposed to MLSE.

Vancouver's a possibility because of new ownership and his wife working there, but I do have some doubts he'd want to return. Thus far he's said he wants to retire in Anaheim and the Samuelli's have said he has a job for life if he wants it. Sounds like a perfect fit to me.

If any of you are watching the Devs-Rangers game, Jagr drove to the net, Brodeur went down and Jagr's hip hits him in the head. Not super hard, enough to make Marty's head snap a little. It snapped back into its normal place immediately.

Half a second later, Martina launches his body backward (talking near parallel to the ice), knocks his own helmet off, and lays motionless on the ice until the whistle is called.

He then promptly stands up and puts his mask back on.

As a hockey fan, that's embarrassing. Thoroughly, totally embarrassing.

It's not so much the kid that I find objectionable, but the parents who clearly encourage this behavior. Bottom line: whether or not it's a sign of mental illness, it's horribly tacky. Seriously, would you let your kid do that in public?

Yeah, Turco pretty well stoned him, didn't he? Teemu did run Marty pretty well there, at the end, though. Pretty spunky for a soft European, though I'm sure you would have preferred it is Selanne had found the back of the net.

If it makes you feel any better, here's a great video of Selanne planting Pronger face-first into the glass at the Olympics:

Pretty sure at least 1 of the 3 open nets he had last night were him just shooting it wide. I think one Turco clipped maybe and the other was a great backcheck by Lehtinen if memory serves. I've tried to erase it from memory though.

Red Wings forward Kris Draper said Nashville's Jordin Tootoo intentionally stepped on his back when both were going for a puck along the boards in Game 4 of their first-round series. "Anything he does isn't an accident, plain and simple," Draper said Friday before Game 5 in Detroit. Tootoo wasn't called for a penalty and Draper wasn't injured during the sequence in question Wednesday night. :)

Kournikova's marital status has been an issue on several occasions. There were conflicting rumors about whether or not she was engaged to hockey player Pavel Bure. There were reports that she married NHL hockey star Sergei Fedorov in 2001. Kournikova's representatives have denied this, but Fedorov stated in 2003 that the couple had married and since divorced. Kournikova currently has a relationship with pop star Enrique Iglesias (in whose video, "Escape", she appeared), and rumors that the couple had secretly married appeared in 2003 and again in 2005. Kournikova herself has consistently refused to directly confirm or deny rumors about the status of her personal relationships. But, in May 2007, Enrique Iglesias was (mistakenly, as he would clarify later) quoted in the New York Sun that he had no intention to marry Anna and settle down because they had split up. The singer would later deny these rumors of "divorce" or simply separation.

Rangers - Penguins looks pretty boring, but then again any Rangers game is boring.

Montreal - Philadelphia should be interesting. It'll either be a good series or a boring one.

Dallas - San Jose should be stellar, especially if Zubov (who's now skating) is able to play at all. This could be another 7 game war for the Sharks.

Detroit - Colorado.....need I say more? Even if the games aren't close the memories alone will have bot fanbases energized and might even be able to draw in some casual viewers.

My picks...

Habs in 5. I don't like that match up for the Flyers. I don't think they can keep up nor do I think they can shut it down like a strong defensive team... say the Rangers or Devils... could do to the Habs.

Penguins in 6. I would've taken the Rangers before the first round. The Penguins sure looked like a much more complete hockey team in the first round than I expected. But maybe that's just the stink of Ottawa.

Colorado in 7. Detroit's goaltending is very iffy and the Avalanche have more playoff warriors in key positions. Of course a couple of injuries and this one could be over in 5 for the Wings.

San Jose in 7. I always ALWAYS underestimate Dallas. I don'twant to do that, but I still feel like the Sharks should handle them. My constant underestimating of the Stars is the only reason I have this going 7.

3B
C

4 bench guys

5 starting pitches
3 reflief pitchers
1 manager
1 ballpark (so you can taylor make your team to the park)

22 rounds

I like it alot and I think it could work.

I've actually thought about a one time all-inclusive giant draft, to see who may have the best all-around knowledge.

A combined hockey, baseball, basketball, football and hockey draft.

Hockey - 22 players
Baseball - 22 players
Basketball - 12 players
Football - 28 players

84 rounds ... and you could pick players from any sport in any round. Probably never happen, but could be fun.

I just am as big of a fan of baseball as I am of hockey. And after playing the game BaseballMogul pretty heavily for the last week ive gotten thinking about it and really have a new love for the past of baseball. The Carew's, the Mays', the Banks', the Murray's, the Jenkins', etc.

Just thought it would be a pretty cool idea.

The thing with baseball is that it really evolved, when it comes to starting pitchers workload/relievers.

Ryan might be the most overrated player in the history of team sports in this country (US).

Well, he's a starter for any AllTime baseball team, and probably not a first starter. I just wouldn't pick him 5th overall.

Man... I think my AT baseball teams might be completely different from my AT hockey teams. Probably have something to do with the fact I pitched for a while. (Then again, when I played hockey I was a D-Men...)

But yeah we have 7 guys so far that have expressed interest and others who are thinking about it because of their knowledge for the sport.

Plus it's been proven countless times over the decades in baseball that pitching and defense will win over offense. Building a team around some huge bats but an average-to-poor pitching and defense doesn't work out that well usually (the current seasons Detroit Tigers being a prime example).

Baseball sign-ups will be up hopefully some time tonight. Papershoes is putting together some names for Trophy's and Divisions while I might look into the rules a little.

If anyone has any ideas, pass them forward. And if you want to help, let me know what you can do (EX: Running Draft Picks, etc.).

Relying on a rookie goalie and a blueline that doesn't play defense?

This team is NOTHING like the 1986 and 1993 Canadiens I cheered to the cup. I feel sorry for Kovalev and Koivu. They simply haven't the supporting cast to go all the way. Counting on Price, Hamrlik, Brisebois, Gorges, Komisarek, Boullion to handle heavy minutes as a team's defensive core? BAH. Go play golf.

The Habs are relying on "a offense is the best defense" kind of thing to win. If you keep scoring more goals then the other team, it doesn't matter how many you give up, you still win the game.

Too bad Biron is preventing them from scoring.

Ah, so they think they are Gretzky's Oilers or Lemieux's Penguins.

Tonight's game is 4-4 in the third but an embarassment to the sport: so sloppy, turnovers, blown checks, out of position defensmen, mistakes on almost every shift.

Dallas and Detroit are the class of the playoffs by far.

They aren't.

Yeah, and deep down inside I think they were hoping Price could be Dryden/Roy. The kid is great, and the way he's developed, he may make the ATD one day, but he isn't Roy.

And while I type this, he robs Briere, with all the pressure of Patrick Roy on his shoulders. :handclap:

And our boy Morrow delivered a thundering hit, the series winners and a swath of other fine playes. The pride of Carlyle, Saskatchewan (along with Jim McKenzie) is the playoff MVP through the first two rounds.

Sorry, Jungosi, no way I'm trading a local boy (he grew up an hour from where I live, and he played his bantam hockey here) who plays that type of game. If Dallas wins the Cup, I'll get to talk to Morrow when he brings the Cup back to Carlyle. (McKenzie brought it to Carlyle when New Jersey won in 2003).
