Shane Hnidy, what should the Bruins do to/for him? I believe that he was better then Ference and Stuart. He just had more experience. I really enjoyed watching his physical play and he is a force to be reckoned with. I think that he should stay with the B's next year because he was a very solid defensemen that CJ relied on.
What do other people think?

He's signed for 1 more year.
With everyone healthy next year (hopefully they bring back Ward) he is an excellent 7th dman.

Keep him as the #7...Allen should be in Providence, and Alberts can share time with Hnidy.

+1
He has no business on the PP, but he was solid down the stretch and in the playoffs. Great depth guy to have.

I agree that we should keep him, and I agree that he was better than Ferrence (after his injury), but he is not better than Stuart. In fact, I think Stuart's development this year has been greatly overshadowed by the stories of Krejci, Lucic, Sobotka, etc. Right under our noses, he is developing into a great shut down defenseman who plays a physical style. At 24, he is going to be a great top 4 defenseman for years to come, and should continue to get better.

I think the Bochenski-Hnidy trade was 10x better for us than for Anaheim. Without Hnidy, we'd have had to rely on Lashoff. He also played a key role during the playoffs.
This is who I would like to see for next season (if Ward doesn't retire)
Chara-Ward
Wideman-Hnidy
Stuart-Ference
Alberts/Lashoff

You don't think we should pick up any defenseman? I personally would love to see Ron Hainsey to make Ference or Alberts expendable. I do think Hnidy did a great job for this team though. I would like to see lines like this to start the season.
Chara-Ward
Wideman-Stuart
Hainsey-Alberts
