Interesting, he'll only last a year though right?

Add to Marcel Hossa also Matt Ellison - famous for being traded by Chicago along with 3rd round pick in 2006 to Philly for Patrick Sharp and Eric Meloche a few years ago... Philly really lost that one.

I think that's the plan. He hopes to get back in to NHL next season. Kinda like what Vaananen did. He chose Riga because he knows their head coach, and he loved the city when he was over for the World Champs.

Ellison is coming off a career year, I would expect him to be a solid addition for Riga's bottom six.

Hossa... I dunno. He's never really been able to stick here but he played okay in Sweden during the lockout. He would probably fare well with Riga if he gets some quality minutes.

The management of Dinamo Riga stated, that they will only add foreign players to play major roles in the team, so Hossa should get some quality ice time in Riga.
On a related note, Dinamo Riga have also signed Ronald Petrovicky on a try-out contract.
