General manager of Salavat Oleg Gross answered fan questions on the site “Komsomol Pravda”, after describing why Zubov, Zinovev and MCARTHY will not be on the team.
"Steve McCarthy will not play in our team. He disillusioned us with his behavior".

props to kedr
Muscle Bob 07-22-2008, 01:15 AM Good lesson to others who think if they are NHLers they can go to the KHL and do nothing.
malkinfan 07-22-2008, 09:54 AM I'm still confused because of the poor translation, they were trying to poach Ilya Zubov and Afinogenov? Of course they wouldn't return, Zubov still has a legit chance to make the NHL out of training camp.

No. He said these players have contracts thus they aren't objects of interest for Ufa.

Does that mean he didn't want to participate somehow? What was his behaviour?

Well for what its worth, the reason McCarthy was dumped by the Canucks due to his poor attitude towards his teammates.
After being traded, it was revealed he was *****ing about not getting enough ice time and how he never felt welcomed etc.

...and another lesson that should be learned - a Contract in the KHL means NOTHING! :D He had a signed contract - therefore he should get paid - even if he does not play!

Stop whining. Just think of him signing a contract similar to NHL's two-way contract. Second way gets him the ticket home instead of playing in a crappy league, not a bad deal actually!

Whining??? R u serious??? Either way - a two way deal is a two way deal... He belongs to the team - he just gets different amount of money when he plays on different levels... BTW - Siberian - what do you think of Filatov NOT being under contract (per Bykov's interview) - AND having to respond to KHL - the league sux!

Maybe it was more of a Professional Try-Out (PTO) than a full fledged contract. That happens in the minor leagues all the time. A guy is signed for a few games and most likely gets released at some point. I don't know, but it is possible.

NP - then what's the story with Bodrov or the story with announcing the signing? KHL - does not honor its contracts

Yes, he signed a PTO not a real contract.
Muscle Bob 07-23-2008, 12:35 AM Seems like McCarthy hasn't even arrived to Salavat's camp. Their GM says they've sent a PTO contract to the USA but hasn't got a reply.

Bodrov's case was taken to artibration and he was found to be still belonging to Togliatti. How in the world can Omsk not honor a contract that doesn't even legally exist?

How in the world can Omsk CLAIM that they had a contract with Bodrov - that's what is baffling. How many times did they claim that he was in camp?

How difficult is this to understand? Bodrov signed a contract with Omsk (hence, Omsk’s claim of a contract), however, it was later nullified when taken to arbitration. Bardin, obviously, disagrees with the decision but what can he do? This is why Bodrov is free to go to Flyers.

Rover* 07-28-2008, 02:24 AM Yeah bertuzzi talked about mccarthy and his poor attitude after mccarthy bad mouthed the team after he got traded.

Bertuzzi was also stung by the criticism immediately after the trading deadline, which fingered the relationship between himself and Naslund as dysfunctional on the team.
"I really do think it was overblown and it was mostly started by one guy, and how can I control what one guy like Steve McCarthy thinks," said Bertuzzi.
"When all that stuff started coming out it bothered all of us so much we had a team meeting about it and it was one of those where it was nothing but the truth or leave the room. Not one guy stood up and said he had a problem.
"I think it was mostly sour grapes on his [McCarthy's] part because he wasn't playing much and when he left he said those things. I don't know why he said them.
"I hung around a lot with Markus, Clouts [Dan Cloutier] and Richard Park and spent a lot of time with Jovo and that pretty much touches all those so-called cliques. There were lots of times we asked him to come out to dinner but you can't help it if a guy doesn't want to come or wants to stay in his room.
"He's a man and can make his own choices, his own decisions. You can't beg the guy to come out.
Slitty 09-09-2008, 04:48 AM And now he is back with Salavat Yulaev. It was only a matter of him, as a Canadian citizen, not being able to leave the United Sates right away due to undergoing some sort of naturalization process.
