Women's hockey is just not at all competitive.

And people complain why there isn't more interest. This is a joke.

 Have you been living in a cave! The joke is that the Bulgaria team was not placed in the proper class to compete. If they were in the proper class, then the Slovakia team will probably move up to the next level. All team have to start somewhere. Just because you play hockey internationally, doesn't mean you can play in Division A pool when you start off. Everyone has to quality at the lowest level. It just might be that Slovakia started off and had to start in this low pool. Maybe someone within the international forum can bring us all up to date on the teams in various pools in the womens leagues.

If you dig a little deeper you find out that they had already been blown out by two other teams and that goal differential was a tie breaker so while out of context it seems like horrible sportsmanship, they were looking out for their own ***** and trying to win.

Thank you for sharing the link. It gave me time to check out why Bulgarian team got spanked.

Here's what I saw....

1. Their Head coach made too many critical errors throughout the game.
2. Players did not cover the loose man in the neutal zone.
3. Defense did not control the gap.
4. Defense let the attacking team penetrate the zone up the middle and not along the boards.
5. Playes did not play their position within their defensive zone.
6. No coverage in front of the net.
7. Inablility to use the boards effectively.
8. Exiting the puck on the Strongs side instead of the weak side.
9. No "D to D" support.
10. Goalie allowed to many rebounds.
11. Inability to clear rebounds in front.
12. Inproper line up on face off within their zone.
13. Players holding the puck in the crease, causing penatly shots.
14. Not having a back up goalie!
15. Defense screening the goalie.
16. Wingers playing too deep.

Just a few tactical fundamentals could make this a winning team. The players looked like they could skates. It just looked like they were overwhelmed and the lack of some very easy fundamentals.

Give me three months with them and we will have them back on their feet in the win column.

Head coach I watched the clips and could not find one player that could skate - not one. They resemble a Saturday morning Bantam House team. You might be able to cut 10 goals but I cannot recall seeing a worse national team of any kind. The Jamaican bobsled team had a better chance.

I saw one in defense that kinda could skate, but she didn't seem to have an idea of where to go.

They were bad in basic hockey knowledge, which made it look like they didn't even try.

Well, it loked like they could skate. I don't recall saying that they were great skaters, I said that they could skate. In fact, the other team did just a little better in their skating.

However,The other team had more fundamental knowledge then the other team. The team that was kicking a** was doing easy passing and setting up within the zone. We didn't see that from the loosing team because they were unable to break it out of the zone.

As far as I am concern they could be made into a winning team with some basic fundamentals. They were not players in a learn to skate program. The majority of them could skate from point A to point B.
