With Sundin and Tucker gone now and Domi, Belfour, and Quinn long gone; a lot of the people I associated with the Sens woes in the earlier Battle of Ontario are just a memory. Now with the Leafs rebuilding and being constant underdogs, I don't feel the same hate and I certainly don't enjoy cheering against them anymore.

My hate for the leafs has been dropping consistently over the years as we have seen the departures of quinn, green, roberts, domi, tucker, sundin and mccabe. I really don't care about them at all anymore. My blood used to boil just thinking about the leafs, but now I dont care. We need a playoff series against the habs before I have any hate towards them.

Yeah, definitely. I don't think about hating them as much as I used to - or as much as I hate the Habs. But I'm sure when we play them, it'll come back. I have to mute their stupid goal foghorn when I play them on NHL 09 and they score. Bad memories.

I guess cause I live in Toronto I've grown apathetic towards the Leafs, but even with the frustration of losing each playoff round to them, I still enjoyed that our biggest rival was also the NHLs biggest team, and we were theirs.

For the most part I really just hated their players at the time, and not even too many. Mostly Tucker, Corson, and Domi.

I'm hoping Toronto gets competitive soon enough so we can go back to having an intense rivalry.

Meh the leafs are gonna be a fun team to watch in a couple years assuming they draft well and put the right people in place. Yup. Still have a hatred for the Leafs. Even though they suck at just about everything in life right now, I still hate them, and I will continue to hate them until someone drops me 6 feet into the ground.

It's been said before, and it will be said again, but, the fact that they have a spelling error in their name speaks volumes to the ineptitude of the organization as a whole. **** rolls downhill folks, and the team name is right at the top of that hill.

As for the Habs, I don't have a huge hate on for the team itself. I dislike the team, but I don't hate them. I can't stand the fans. I have more negative feelings and views towards the Habs fans than I do towards the Leafs, and that is saying something.

My dislike of the Leafs on-ice team was generally premised on several of the players (Tucker, Corson, Domi, McCabe, Belak, Green), and Pat Quinn. I have no real love for Ron Wilson, but I find any team that's building through youth to be in some way kind of compelling. I'm sure the fans will find some way to make me dislike the team as the season progresses, but I find myself kind of curious to see how the likes of Stajan, Steen, Kulemin, Tlusty, and Grabovski will develop this year.

That said, I continue to resent that I have to buy the timeshifting option from Shaw just to be able to watch the Ottawa-based HNIC game on Saturdays. The absurd grip that the Leaf franchise has on the NHL schedule is reason enough to dislike the team. If they manage to stave off the increasingly strong pressure to have a second team in the GTA it will only further my contempt for the franchise.

A lot of the Leaf hate also arose because of the obnoxious leaf fans that for example, would show up at Scotia bank place for the season opener in their leaf sweater telling all the passing fans to kiss the jersey, or the ones that would come to our games and boo alfie, or the ones that would endlessly offer their unwanted opinions on our messageboards.

It has been kind of nice the last few years that way. I hardly ever seem to run across leaf fans anymore. They keep quiet and to themselves now i guess, seemingly humbled a bit.

One thing that is rather funny i thought, is seeing all the leaf fans so excited about having a team thats "Young and Improving." :) Hopefully they try and tank the draft for Tavares like we did for Daigle, cause Karma always bites.

I still enjoy seeing the laffs and their fans suffer. Its a differnt kind of hate i guess than it used to be, but its still hate. Its just that the habs are now poised to make that hatred of mine a two-headed monster as their fans finally arise from a long slumber and start to take over the lead in obnoxiousness from the dying leaf fans.

This is the one thing that still infuriates me. I have let a lot of my Leaf hatred go, but this just boils my blood. Also that the Leaf faithful booed Alfie when he got up after the Bell hit. I would never do that for Sundin.

Last year at a Sens-Pens game, there was a group of the Leaf-nation sitting not far from me in the 300s, all dressed up in Leafs colours and booing the Sens. Every Sens penalty, every Penguins goal, they would chant "Go Leafs Go" repeatedly. Pathetic.

Generally, most Leaf fans I know are just like other hockey fans. Fans are fans - they come in all sorts. I'm intrigued by the new Leaf team - the players I hated are gone and I don't hate them anymore. But my God, some people . . .

Montreal? The only rivalry I see is between fans. It's recent and I don't really get it. I'll never hate the Canadiens. Our on-ice rivals these days are Buffalo and Pittsburgh.

Yes it was Mark Bell who cheap shotted Alfie but it was Leaf fans who booed when he was able to get on his skates and get off the ice.

Also it is Leaf fans who boo Alfie and bad mouth the Sens at every opportunity-not all Leaf fans but many of them.

And it is the Leafs that are still the beloved of HNIC and who take up three quarters of air time on all the Toronto centric national sports media.

Because of all that and the Sens hating Leaf fans who are on OTR and other
Toronto centric Canadian Sports media, spouting ignorant nonsense about the Sens,
I can say, like Alfie,I don't hate the Leafs,but I dislike them.

I don't know where all the Hab hate came from around here all of a sudden, there are some obnoxious Habs fans but some pretty good ones too, on here anyway. I certainly don't hate the Habs, but if we have a playoff series, that could change.

The Habs are now the most annoying team in the league, bar none. The stupid OLE OLE OLE chants they stole from European soccer is just so lame. Plus before the Habs, the Canucks did it too. Lapierre is a weasel, and Komisarek is so overrated cause he plays with Markov. Komi is a very good player, but it's like he's gunna win the Norris or something.

The same thing happened for me with the Habs from 98-04 when the leafs were a winning team and the Habs weren't qualifying for the post season. Obviously the hate shifted toward the Sens and Devils especially. :D

Now again we're the laughing stock of the league with an extremely long road ahead of us if all things go well. Hopefully one day we can get the rivalry back again. I actually enjoyed the Leafs-Sens matches much more then Leafs-Habs.

My hate for the Habs has come back once again, that chant is truly annoying.

Lisa: You don't like me? I like you.

But the moral of this story is the Sens and their fans haven't done anything to warrant hate from most Habs fans. It might change if we ever meet in the playoffs.
