Not a Trade Rumor!

Okay... Panther fan here. Not here to troll or start a flame war. I've got a serious question and it needs answering.

Every poster on HFboards.com knows about your love and devotion for Lecavalier. Fine, he's a great player and pretty much the face of your franchise. I respect that. There is no way he's gonna get traded and I agree, there have been too many patheric proposal posts about Vinny. He is the heart and soul in Tampa.

But Martin St. Loius has been your MVP.

If you're gonna argue that, whatever, you're entitled to your opinion. But that's not the point.

The point is... I'm curious to know who would you rather have? I know that you already have both of them, but my question still stands. As fans, who are you more loyal to? Leading scorer and potential Hart candidate Marty St. Louis, or Franchise centerman Vinny Lecavalier? Tell me why while you're at it.

Remember, I'm not trying get under anyone's skin as I know this is a delicate topic and I am in your territory, so I'm choosing my words VERY carefully. (Note that I respectfully left out the word 'trade' completely)

I'm just curious to see what you're reaction will be. :)

Non lightning fan...

Thanx for your input, but no thanks.

I was specifically asking the Lightning fans as, honestly, it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks. It's their team and their players. I want THEIR opinions. That's why I posted it here instead of in one of the larger forums.

I'm just curious as to why you're asking this. Sorry for questioning your motives, but some of your fellow fans think we have some sort of sick obsession with Lecavalier.

Erack has it right, we don't have to choose. :)

Both. And Richards. And Kubina. And Khabibulin.

This is as silly as the "Richards or Lecavalier" debates from a few years ago - as though the loser is automatically trade bait or it proves that he is not needed or whatever.

Last time I looked there was more than one player on the ice, and teams were allowed as many "keepers" as they liked.

Or, the alterior motive here is if someone or the majority picks St. Louis, then the San Antonio fans think it's a victory for Dudley.

BOTH players are equally important to this team and no one wants either player to GO ANYWHERE!

P.S. Did we lose our avatars for some reason???

No reason, the thought just popped into my head one night. I know you guys are extremely loyal to Vinny, as you should be. But I was just wondering if you would be more loyal to someone who is producing MUCH more than Vinny.

Argh, you guys are no fun! J/K

I guess you guys don't HAVE to, but it would of been cool to see different points of view.

Anyways, thanx for being polite, answering semi-straightforward, and not flaming away. Finally a step in the friendly direction from the Florida rivals!

Pointless to even consider, but I'll indulge you ...

Short term: St. Louis
Long term: Lecavalier

Marty's in his prime right now, playing phenomenal hockey and well-rounded, too. However, there's little question that when Lecavalier reaches his prime, he'll be a far better -- and more productive -- player than St. Louis is right now.

Fortunately, we don't have to choose.

Um, sorry, but we ARE friendly and nice people. We have no reason to be friendly to people who come in here to trash us and our players, and reading some of that stuff might have given you the wrong impression. :)
