Where do you guys search your pictures to create wallpapers or different things? I though that it would be interesting to share it.
Personnaly I usually search them on ModSquadHockey (http://www.modsquadhockey.com/forums/phpbrowser/NHL_Gallery.htm#), Flickr (http://www.flickr.com/) and sometimes just on Google.

Copy the image file, for example
http://images.cbssports.com/u/gettyimages/photos/GYI0057244185042204_lower.jpg
change the _lower.jpg part at the end to
_1024x768.jpg
so it becomes

I'm gonna just take a shot in the dark here and assume you guys don't credit the original photographer when you use these images?

At the bottom of all my walls is a disclaimer saying "Images property to their respective owner." So yeah I credit the original photographer.

Unless that means you fill in "respective owner" with the actual name of the photographer that doesn't mean much.
Anyways, Getty and AP keep hi-res images like those found on that library site under wraps for a reason. Photo sales of the hi-res original shots are how photographers make a living. The fact that someone can just take these off someone's account is, as I've said before, very unnerving and definitely not legal.

Don't even get me started on the Nazis at Getty Images....
Yeah, we're going to *ahem* charge you a cool 2-5 grand for one photo. If you're not selling **** with this photo in it and we catch you, we'll sue you anyways for 3x that.
They say a picture is worth a thousand words. Guess a one time use for personal usage is worth a couple thousand as well.

Welcome to the world of photo licensing. The reason you think those prices are so ridiculous is because they are not for you. None of you need a 10MP+ full res image of a bloody hockey player. Stock image agencies are and have always been directed towards businesses and editorial outlets. If you want the photo for your own uses, you can go along and get whatever TSN/Yahoo/CBS has decided to publish on their website.
There are a lot of people on eBay and other illegitimate outlets that take photos like these from pirated sources, such as this eLibrary account, and utilize the full resolution to create high quality prints and posters for re-sell. One of many reasons why I don't approve of something like that existing. Why in god's name an educational search engine needs to have access to sports stock images is beyond me.

I realize that they're priced absurdly high because large corporations can afford it. I also realize the cost of professional photography equipment.
The only problem is nobody is trying to make money off of these except those idiots that post them on their deviantart and sell them as prints.

As I said above, eBay businesses make a ******** off this. It's a big reason why you can so easily find on eBay custom high quality posters of TV shows, movies, etc. that were never officially released and have no copyright info. They acquired full-res shots through illegal means (We're talking 30MP shots from a digital back) and are now re-printing the same images over and over making a killer on ebay sales.

That's exactly what it means.
