No Osgood on the Olympic pre-team. He must have done something to not be chosen. I am not his biggest fan and he comes across as arrogant and/or cocky on most interviews. Anyone else have input?

Perhaps they felt there were better choices?

Osgood plays behind one of the better puck possesion and defensive teams in the league, factors which help keep him looking good, but there are better goalies.

Names of Canadian goalies I believe are better then Osgood

1. Brodeur
2. Luongo
3. Ward
4. Fleury
5. Osgood

1 and 2 are a given with Ward going as a 3rd(Ward might steal the backup job from Luongo). I don't think Osgood can do anything in the camp to climb up to take one of those spots. So it was pointless to invite him.

Osgood is so not better than Osgood.

Maybe because Brodeur,Luongo,Ward,MAF and Mason are all clearly better

Who honestly cares about the 3rd goalie,he will basically only be there for experience as Luongo and Brodeur have it pretty much locked up

It's also possible that they invited him and he declined due to age and/or wanting the extra rest? He struggled with big minutes last season.

It's obvious. Without Detroit's system in front of him, he won't play as well. Just look at his time in New York and St. Louis, not that they are bad teams, but they don't run "the system", and Osgood play suffers because of it.

There are better choices. That's the answer.

They won't need Osgood, because they have Cam Ward, that's the truth.

Osgood is pretty crappy that's why. He has had his moments in the playoffs I'll give him that but he's lower than middle of the pack in reg season.

Osgood isn't a very good goalie. That's why.

He benefits from playing in front of a strong defense that not only limits quality scoring chances, but also shots on goal.

I'd take almost any established Canadian goalie over Osgood. :P

Edit: Actually, given that Osgood's SV% last year, I'd probably take most Canadian backup goalies ahead of him as well.
