BillyD 07-10-2009, 12:40 PM According to Berger thats the date and game cited in the first draft of the NHL schedule. Komisarek gets the first game against old team out of the way immediately.
Season opens early due to Olympics.

AWESOME!
Thanks. Did they say when the complete schedule will be released?
EDIT: It is in the article
The full NHL regular-season schedule is expected to be released sometime next week.
chop017 07-10-2009, 01:37 PM Well family trip to Disney is going to have to be re-arranged! Berger said in that article the pre-season sched will be re;eased next week but didn't say anything about the regular season sched.
russmatuss 07-10-2009, 01:54 PM Yes!
Can't wait to see our guys knocking around those midgets.
Orr vs Laraque
Komisarek v umm, who else they got?
...and not forgetting the main event, Mikhail Grabovski v Sergei Kostitsyn.
Oh and there might be some hockey too.

Long standing tradition, you better believe it. The ridiculously inappropriately early first game of the year GDT is all Scoogs all the way lol...
Hopefully the schedule is released with this. Happy B-day to me, first game of the season versus Montreal, sweet. Start putting the word out for a good present idea right now lol...

It would be great to start the year off with a bang.

It's 1 game, last year the Leafs started off the year beating Detroit.
Scoogs 07-10-2009, 02:39 PM You're ****ing right this isn't the GDT. Expect it soon.
Anyways, here's the unofficial pre-season sked for the Leafs:
- Wednesday, September 16th vs Boston
- Friday, September 18th at Pittsburgh
- Tuesday, September 22nd vs Pittsburgh
- Friday, September 25th at Detroit
- Saturday, September 26th vs Detroit
Just a draft from Berger's blog, and more games could be added. Unlikely, though.

And that game was one of my favourites of the season :yo:
Especially when kulemin burried that goal in the 3rd
mlugia 07-10-2009, 03:11 PM Sweet! Giants vs Midgets already!
Anthrax442 07-10-2009, 03:11 PM Welcome to the house of pain, beotches!!

Anthrax442 07-10-2009, 03:15 PM My prediction - they will beat them so hard they'll wish they weren't beat up so bad.
BIG BLUE 07-10-2009, 03:18 PM luckily, the Habs already have some red on their jerseys...so, a little more should blend in nicely
Anthrax442 07-10-2009, 03:22 PM I want to see XLB catch one of the Kostitsyns with the dead down.
iPunch 07-10-2009, 03:28 PM in a similar thread on the Habs' board, they are predicting how Grabovski is going to take a beating....

Haha, that was one of the main reasons Orr was brought in. Grabovski was directly named as a guy they were interested to see when he has protection.
Anthrax442 07-10-2009, 03:30 PM Well this year Grabs will have more space.

New and improved Habs vs new and improved Leafs.
Both teams added size and skill. Since I can see both the Habs and the Leafs in a position to content for playoffs, these games will have significance. And with the added size, they will also have plenty of impact.
It'll be great hating your guts next season.
Mr Scarface* 07-10-2009, 09:41 PM Habs inside out..

Love the word collective mane. It's so......... deep mane. Like my friday night, just came home, eating ice cream lol.
and yeah, those Habs - Leafs games will be pure entertainment next season, every night mane. And total PHYSICAL domination by this Leaf thug team. Burke is really doing his thang right now. Just a fact: Burke is better than Gainey. And so is his Thug Team. Loving this. Powerful Emotions are guaranteed next season...
Mr Scarface* 07-10-2009, 09:45 PM Hah, this like a summer GDT mane. Loving it mane. I'm kinda drunk right now mane, but uh, this uh Leafs hockey discussion is always so much fun mane. There really aren't this type of fans nowhere in this world of ours...... and I know that dude, I've been like discussing hockey a LOT with y'all guys and girls mane... This a fun thang mane.

HellasLEAF 07-10-2009, 10:21 PM man, can't wait for that one. but what a loooooooong wait until October.

Grabo will be too busy doing loops around Paul Mara and Hal Skill
Grabs pulled those stunts against the Habs without a shred of protection (even in Montreal). Can you imagine the sideshow with Kommy, Beauch, Exel, and Orr backing him up?

Probably becasue of the Olympic break...
I'd really like to see a championship in the middle of the season like this every year instead of the stupid all star weekend, not while the SC playoffs are happening.
It Kills Me 07-10-2009, 11:20 PM actually with the Habs signing Mara, who is big...their D is actually rather large, physically...
Mara, Gill, O'Bryne, Gorges are all pretty tall but that's about it.

lololz
Hab-a-maniac 07-11-2009, 12:50 AM All I know is that it was a 3-3 season series last year and whoever won usually did it in a romp. And usually the road team won. It wasn't as closely contested as all the Habs-Leafs games from 05-08, usually ending with one team's fans cursing and *****ing at their team. The Habs will have as much grit if not more IMO and won't be pushed around so easily, and I think it was the Leafs speed and creative guys did the job last year.
Every time it turned into a fightfest, it made no difference. It was Grabs, Kulemin, Hagman, etc. that made the Habs D look silly, not the toughness, etc. No doubt more size on D can help both teams but it's up to the more flashy guys. And hey, the Hab forwards outside of Lapierre, Moen, Latendresse, the Kostitsyns, Stewart and Laraque, are smurfs but better smurfs than the old guys IMO. Quicker, more determined, less lazy. But we'll see. But man, last season wasn't anything but torture for either team half the time:
Game 1: @TOR, Habs win 6-2
Game 2: @TOR, Leafs win 6-3
Game 3: @MTL, Leafs win 5-2
Game 4: @MTL, Habs win 6-2
Game 5: @MTL, Leafs win 5-2
Game 6: @TOR, Habs win 6-2
HellasLEAF 07-11-2009, 01:53 AM one thing's for sure, it's gonna be weird seeing Komi in the blue and white trying to hit Habs players.
freaky weird.
Antropovsky 07-11-2009, 05:41 AM We're the 1st team to play in Pittsburgh, so for the 2nd consecutive year, the Leafs will watch the Cup Banner being raised. Personally I think this is a good thing.

Grabovski and Komisarek might yell out something during the game like...... "We is going to crush your planets and eat your fingernails!!!!!!!" Then all hell will brake loose. People will be flying in the air, like cows.

Judging by his posts I'd guess he's perma-high.
Hal Gill 6' 7"
Ryan O'Byrne 6' 6"
Paul Mara 6' 4"
Roman Hamrlik 6' 2"
they're not small on D, they got Laraque Stewart and Moen.
It'll be fun, but we're not slaughtering them.

WICKED!!!!! Oct 1st... I though the season would start mid-Oct, like it does every year. Hey I'm not complaining here. :yo:
- it's not like we're getting any kind of a summer anyways, so lets just skip Aug & go into Oct. :D
Man, the habs without Koivu will look so friggen odd, just like the Leafs without Mats. :(
My birthday is Nov. 3rd, a month after the season starts.
I wish the Leafs opener would be Saturday. Leafs home opener should always be on a Saturday from now.
It's the start of a new season, so lets keep with tradition & have the 1st Leafs game on a Saturday. :yo:
Leafs vs Habs are always better on Saturdays.
TMLeafer 07-11-2009, 03:10 PM We're the 1st team to play in Pittsburgh, so for the 2nd consecutive year, the Leafs will watch the Cup Banner being raised. Personally I think this is a good thing.
Honestly, last year's opening night in Detroit was one of the highlights of the season. I like how Ron Wilson decided that the Leafs should sit on the bench and watch the banner raising instead of waiting in the room.
Then to watch Kulemin score on the Cup champs in his first NHL game was beautiful. Great win .
NoamHemsky 07-11-2009, 05:19 PM Leafs vs Habs are always better on Saturdays.
that's so true.
ACC1224 07-11-2009, 06:32 PM We're the 1st team to play in Pittsburgh, so for the 2nd consecutive year, the Leafs will watch the Cup Banner being raised. Personally I think this is a good thing.

Spazmatic Dan 07-11-2009, 07:23 PM Well the Habs toughened up lately with Mara and Moen.
So it should be interesting. If they gel they could have a good team.

Maybe on a regular year, but like it was mentioned, this is a shortened off-season as the regular season starts two weeks earlier for the Olympics... You may be right about them adding games, but I personally doubt it. There is just no time to do that unless you start camp at the beginning of September.
Harpoon Pete 07-12-2009, 05:09 PM Awesome. I am so looking forward to this season. Hope to have my hockey watching room ready for then!

Hope you're right but since I've been a subscriber it's been 45 games a year and with pre-season being pure profit, I doubt they drop one.
Remember with the amount of guys on the Camp roster, they could play every night.
