Really disappointing to hear him talk about fighting on "ludes", which would obviously slow your reflexes and give you all kinds of trouble. Much like fighting drunk or worse.
Does anybody think he was high during the fight or do you think he is embarrassed by how out classed he was by Silva?

I take it you haven't seen a lot of Forrest Griffin interviews.
He's joking.

I have seen some of them, but not all of them. I didn't figure that a fighter would joke about that kind of thing. He seemed sincere enough and candid enough. It would certainly explain a hell of a lot.

I'm pretty tired of his self-deprecating aww schucks act at this point. You're a glorified gatekeeper, we know it, you should. Be happy that your two biggest wins were complete luck, now just be cool, stop the act.

I think it has to do a lot with the roller coaster that has been his career. When he won TUF, he probably felt like that would be the pinnacle of his career. He then lost his first two most notable fights (Ortiz, Jardine) before stunning the MMA world against Shogun and then getting a title shot and winning the belt against Rampage.
It was all too much too fast for a fighter that's not great at anything and was never thought to be and probably never expected himself to be more than a gatekeeper and fan favorite. It was unrealistic to expect more and his last two fights show that.
I'm sure he started to buy into it all and he's having a hard time dealing with the reality of it - the 06/07 Forrest is the fighter we should expect, and that's the fighter he was once comfortable being.
