DaFranzenator 11-25-2009, 03:01 AM Had to post it because it hilarious! Didn't know where to really, I mean should I put it in the fight section, LOL! Anyway here it is.

Lunatik* 11-25-2009, 03:08 AM thats not taking a beating, wickenhiser jumped on the back of someone less than half her age and still couldn't take him down
FromTheSide 11-25-2009, 03:12 AM Did i hear this right? 31 yr old girl jumped on a 15 yr old because he "rubbed her out on the boards" ?

DaFranzenator 11-25-2009, 03:17 AM thats not taking a beating, wickenhiser jumped on the back of someone less than half her age and still couldn't take him down
I didn't actually mean he took a beating, I was just trying to add to the hilarity of the whole incident, I mean come on its pretty funny!
Lunatik* 11-25-2009, 03:19 AM I didn't actually mean he took a beating, I was just trying to add to the hilarity of the whole incident, I mean come on its pretty funny!humour would be calling Ms. Wickenhiser a child abuser for this... any other 31 year old woman tries beating on a 15 year old kid and its a criminal act
superhakan 11-25-2009, 03:24 AM Oh Lunatik, your ****ing awesome.
It was Hilarious. Couldnt imagine a funnier combination of people either.
DaFranzenator 11-25-2009, 03:25 AM humour would be calling Ms. Wickenhiser a child abuser for this... any other 31 year old woman tries beating on a 15 year old kid and its a criminal act
Oh god, settle down, I know its a brother of one of your beloved flames, he shouldn't of tried to "rub out" a female in a non-contact hockey game.
FromTheSide 11-25-2009, 03:26 AM humour would be calling Ms. Wickenhiser a child abuser for this... any other 31 year old woman tries beating on a 15 year old kid and its a criminal act
I think you mean child molester. She was all over him :sarcasm:
The question is ,was there contact allowed?
i mean in the hockey game you gutterheads

It was non-contact.
JannikAtTheDisco 11-25-2009, 03:28 AM Phaneuf's retarded.
"I've never seen it yet"
Worst...sentence...ever...
Lunatik* 11-25-2009, 03:36 AM Oh god, settle down, I know its a brother of one of your beloved flames, he shouldn't of tried to "rub out" a female in a non-contact hockey game.you should see what the female teams do in those games knowing the guys don't hit back... they get pretty brutal... so she got rubbed out... big ****in deal... its not like he hit her hard

Must...resist ...urge to make jokes.....
Why are guys playing with girls anyway? especially 13 yr old ones?
Lunatik* 11-25-2009, 03:44 AM Must...resist ...urge to make jokes.....
Why are guys playing with girls anyway? especially 13 yr old ones?apparently its a regular occurance in alberta for the national team to go around playing 15-17 year olds

God..... its got to be terrible..... I can only imagine.... the Horror... oh god the HORROR!
And ladies no offence to you, thats in no way undercutting you with that last reference, you are some tough cookies, more power to you!
SeNaToR PhIL 11-25-2009, 04:57 AM It's pretty silly, the women's team can just play the I-am-a-woman card to smash faces and not get hit... :shakehead
These types of exhibition games are a bad idea imo.
nyr2k2 11-25-2009, 09:06 AM That's just ridiculous. Silly of Phaneuf to initiate any type of contact, but absolutely absurd for Hayley to respond that way. I'm mean really, was she planning on dropping the gloves to fight him?

Like all Phaneufs, Dane would probably just hide behind another one of his teammates/hope another team mate jumps in for him [her?:sarcasm:]
octopi 11-25-2009, 09:27 AM Must...resist ...urge to make jokes.....

15, and its because the approximate weight, speed and strength of adult woman is comparable with the average boy of that age.
As a rather strong adult woman, it'd have to take a lot more than that to get me to wrestle down and maybe try to instigate a fight with a kid that age.I might shove him, but thats about it, although she really didn't do much to him.
LOL can you imagine if it was a 31-year old MALE player going after a 15-year old GIRL in an exhibition game? It would be all over the news!
I think the only reason this got as much attention as it is because it's Wickenheiser and Phaneuf's brother.
Ti-girl 11-25-2009, 10:08 AM First of all, that wasn't a clean rub out, it would have been called in women's hockey. And secondly, she didn't "jump on his back." She tried to take him down, he leaned forward and lifted her off her feet.
Honestly, I've played high level women's hockey and that would have been called a penalty every time.
Neely2005 11-25-2009, 02:48 PM http://ca.sports.yahoo.com/nhl/blog/puck_daddy/post/Video-Phaneuf-s-little-bro-hits-enrages-women-?urn=nhl,204678
I apologize if this has already been posted.
Big Phil 11-25-2009, 03:00 PM That's actually kind of funny. Dion got a good laugh out of it as well. You know if they hit like that in women's hockey maybe the games would be watchable and people would care. ;)

And better yet, who let them out of the kitchen? :sarcasm:
He just wanted to touch her.
Nager 11-25-2009, 03:23 PM  I don't know what's funnier, a 15 year old hitting a mother, or a mother hitting a 15 year old.

The best part about this video is the **** eating grin that Dion has on his face when he's asked about it. You can tell he's holding back laughter in a big, big way.
Who knew he could actually smile?

16 year old boys play 20 year old girls in my town. Usually there is a little more going on below the belt if you know what im saying. ;)
Also in sports like soccer an older boys team could play a younger girls team the same age or younger.
Brandinho 11-25-2009, 03:55 PM A great way to add legitimacy to women's hockey is to play 15 year old boys and flip out when one of them bumps into you.

Schenn Him 11-25-2009, 05:09 PM That was funny.
Not inappropriate, not out of bounds, just damn funny. Both the play on the ice and Dion's reaction.
That was really a no-win situation for Dane if it had progressed any further.
Khris Creider 11-25-2009, 05:17 PM pretty funny.. is he spose to be any good?

somehow I'm not surprised to see that "high IQ" behavior runs in the phaneuf family
:sarcasm:
Seguins Dragon* 11-25-2009, 07:05 PM the million dollar man and virgil comment had me in stiches

she's played hockey on the world stage since she was 15, been an olympian in two sports, is world famous, has played played pro hockey in both men and women's leagues.... is in multiple halls of fame and by all right will be in the nhl hall of fame ...
oh yeah... she's got so much to be embarassed about, according to an anonymous hfboarder
like that same play doesn't happen a few dozen times a night in the nhl and other leagues....
In my eyes the kid should be embarassed, honestly. It was a punk move... one we've seen at the amateur level lots of times... Girl comes out to play against boys and suddenly some low iq caveman feels that THIS is the day he will land the hit of all hits,.. why? there's a girl out there.. and doesn't she want to be treated JUST like the guys... REALLY? Junior dumbo out there couldn't have played that EXHIBITION game without doing that? He couldn't outskate, pass or shoot her so he felt the urge to prove he had the bigger penis?

A true testament to womens hockey. Arguably the greatest female player evers claim to fame is having played in an NHL rookie tournament (basically a watered down OHL All-Star game) and scoring .5 PPG in a Tier III Finnish league...
I'm sorry, I'm rather bitter on the subject. I dated a girl who was very feminist and disgusted that womens hockey didn't get the same level of interest or air-time as NHL hockey.
By the way, the hit of all hits? That rub out was almost "incidental contact".
For someone so traveled, you think she would have a cooler head about some 15-year old kid hitting her, no?

Nope. If some jackass thought that getting his name in the news for a few days was worth ruining my Olympic trip, I'd be pissed too.
I'm sure Paul Kariya sends Gary Suter Christmas cards every year.
The Dayvan Cowboy 11-25-2009, 10:03 PM Did lulz.
And to reiterate an above comment, is Dane Phaneuf a legit prospect?
Well, euh, maybe she was pissed because it was supposed to be a no-hitting game and she didn't expect this at all?
Geez, I'm in the same weight category than Hayley and I wouldn't want to drop the gloves with her.
Notice that I said " THE GLOVES ".
BronxBruin 11-25-2009, 10:20 PM I'm more interested in what the final score was. It'd be a little embarassing if a group of 15 year olds was able to beat the women's national team.

So. Do any of you here actually play hockey? If so you would know, barring a very un-lucky tweak, there is no way that rub-up against the boards would put her "Olympic trip" in Jeopardy. I see people hit each other a lot harder than that in some no-contact beer leagues.
She needs to take a seat and figure it out. Jumping a 15-year old from behind.

Anyone who watches the NHL knows that it is not uncommon to see fights break out after clean hits, especially if the hit was on one of their star players. Why should this be any different? On top of that, this was a game where hitting was not supposed to be allowed. Good for her for sticking up for herself.
Well, she's basically our Gretzky, so shut up.
I think he knows that...but I also dont think she should be considered that...hes just stating his opinion on womens hockey, no need to get your panties in a knot. I happen to also think womens hockey is terrible and not exciting. To me its not hockey. Yes they do have most of the components of a hockey game, but the no hitting thing, thats what makes it not hockey to me. Ive seen my share of great female hockey players, dont get me wrong. Probably the greatest skater I ever had the privelage of sharing the ice with was a girl. But I also think you need to take it easy. Disagree with him all you want, but calm down.
It Kills Me 11-25-2009, 11:11 PM What league/game was this?
I don't get how a 15 year old boy and a 30 year old women (Olympian too) would be playing the same league.

And yes, there are fights after clean hits, but very rarely does anything come out of that. And again, Ive seen worse hits in non contact hockey that Ive played. It was a rub-out to incidental contact at the worst. That wasnt much of a hit. She, like you, needs to take a deep breath and realize its all ok.

Sticking up for herself? To a 15 year-old boy? That would be like me putting an 8-year old in a head lock for calling me "gay". It wasn't even a hit. It was a bit of contact on the boards. She has played hockey for 25 years, if she can't deal with a bit of touching against the boards, she has some issues.
If there was some blatant slashing, cross-checking, open ice hitting, high-hits, some elbows thrown, I could see her doing that. But that? Come on. She just embarrassed herself.

RobertKron 11-26-2009, 03:20 AM I'm a bit surprised at her reaction. That play is legal, or maybe slightly borderline at absolute worst, in non-checking hockey. That was two players trying to get to the same place at the same time, not a player aiming and shifting their weight into the other player. He was basically establishing position in a race for the puck, not throwing a body check, and 9.5 times out of 10 that exact play is left alone in a non-checking pee-wee game.

Freak injuries happen all the time. These games were arranged to get Team Canada ready for the Olympics, not for Dane Phaneuf to briefly move out of his older brother's shadow.
Canary in a Blender 11-26-2009, 08:14 AM Meh. She should have taken his number and hit him later on. While the mugging was hilarious from our point of view, I thought that it was as unnecessary and foolish as Dane's bonehead play in a no-bodycheck game. Any idiot can start a fight, but it takes real skill to catch a player with their head down and get some clean, open-ice retribution later on.
The Big Jankowski 11-26-2009, 09:37 AM Dane Phaneuf is the most over-rated player in the AMHL in my oppinion. :)
I'm more interested in what the final score was. It'd be a little embarassing if a group of 15 year olds was able to beat the women's national team.
6-1 for the women.
They're playing a bunch of Midget AAA teams over this year and have gone 9-4 against them.
This has been occurring for a long time in Alberta (The Women's team playing Midget AAA teams). I remember playing them about 7 years ago.

Freak injuries happen all the time. These games were arranged to get Team Canada ready for the Olympics, not for Dane Phaneuf to briefly move out of his older brother's shadow.
