Me too...

Not very original:

Yashin:

Ilya Proskuryakov, Sergei Zubov - Vitaly Vishnevski, Aleksei Yashin - Sergei Zinoviev - Maksim Sushinsky

Jagr:

Jeff Glass, Kevin Dallman - Joel Kwiatkowski, Marcel Hossa - Patrick Thoresen - Jaromir Jagr

I would love to see there Anisin, Kulyash, Knyazev and Irgl, Radivojevic, Vasicek, Hudler or Nemirovsky, but no space for them all...

Such an interesting concept to name the teams after two of your leagues best players. We should do the Ovechkin team Vs. the Crosby Team...REVENGE MATCH lol

The only thought of why simon is in the roster comes to my mind. At least 1 player from each team?

He's a decent player in the KHL

Yup, decent player but not a star. There are dozens of foreigners who could and should have made it to Jagr team instead.

Well, first line is a public vote. And Fedorov was in the top 10 and Simon wasn't. Second line is up to press, so I guess they've just trolled the KHL.

the game is in Minsk and they probably figured that having Mezin playing on the foreigners team would look wrong...He's also born in Russia, just plays for Belorus'.

Well it's sometimes a bit complicated with some of the players from the former USSR republics excluding Russia. Some may have dual citizenship, some may have for example a Belarusian or Lithuanian citizenship but were born in Russia or vice versa. It depends.

i see.... it just looked strange to have a belarusian on team yashin but a latvian on team jagr. but it makes sense if he's a russian citizen. or maybe it's just politics like with the olympic team :sarcasm:

I am not sure but... If you look at khl.ru, Ozolins has latvian citizenship and Mezin russian. I think that Ozolins has ONLY latvian citizenship and Mezin has double one (belorussian and russian) But I am not sure

The Kontinental Hockey League has chosen the players who will form the third line of the two competing teams in the All-Star Game, taking place on January 30th in Minsk. (http://en.khl.ru/news/2010/1/27/23791.html)

Completing the line-up of Team Yashin will be defensemen Konstantin Korneyev (CSKA) and Vitaly Atyushov (Metallurg Magnitogorsk), plus attackers Sergei Zinovyev (Salavat Yulaev), Denis Parshin (CSKA) and Alexei Tereshchenko (Ak Bars).

Added to Team Jagr are defensemen Karel Rachunek (Dynamo Moscow) and Jaroslav Obsut (Spartak), plus the forwards Jiri Hudler (Dynamo Moscow), Ville Peltonen (Dinamo Minsk) and Jozef Stumpel (Barys).

And so selection of players for Teams Yashin and Jagr in the Kontinental Hockey League All-Star Game is completed in full, and further changes to the teams before the game can only take place in the event of injury to a player.

how does Mezin make the team over Proskuryakov for Team Yashin? and how does Esche not make Team Jagr? Proskuryakov is arguably the best goaltender in the KHL up to this point and he doesnt make the All-Star game. how does that happen?

and then how does Fedorov make the team, but his teammate who is having the better season, Stanislav Chistov, not make the squad? and i agree with everyone else, Chris Simon should not be on that team. Hyvonen, Cajanek, Immonen, & like 10 other foreigners are far more deserving of that spot. are these players declining spots or does the russian press and fans that are voting not actually follow the KHL? or are they doing like the NHL and having at least one player from each team at the game?

Simon is popular between the fans for his scoring and ability to fight, that's why he's there, plain and simple.

really? he has 12 goals. Martin Cibak can fight and can score better, and he's more deserving of a spot on Team Jagr. and Simon was a press vote, not a fan vote.

as for Mezin, i get that the game is at his home arena and his hometown, but Proskuryakov really should be on the All-Star team. take 3 goalies then, 1 for each period. when the top 2 goalies in the league dont make the All-Star game something is wrong. they really need to do something about the selection process.

ESPN 360 had a broadcast of the game - it's disappointing how Levy and Melrose were absolutely not ready to work that game and how espn360 called Omsk the last KHL's winner...On the good side, espn36 signed a 2 year contract with the KHL to broadcast games starting this february

is that relevant how a player did in an all-star game? In my mind it shows nothing.

A who's who of 1990s hockey stars at the game, playing or as guests: Jagr & Yashin (obviously), Fedorov, Zubov, Gretzky, Messier, Mogilny, Ozolinsh, Stumpel.

BTW, anyone know if Bykov & Zubov/Smith had a chance to bury the hatchet at the game?
