I'd like to mention - if anyone would like to GM a team and can't find that team on this list... I will change the team name to any NHL franchise you'd like.

*with one condition - I would like to have 6 Canadian & 6 US based teams... so you have to choose a US team and change them to another US team only.

Important:

heusy_57 has dropped out - I've PMed him a few times and no response. So, if anyone would like to take over Ottawa in this draft please let me know. You can make your first pick, although you gotta pick from the 10th spot and not 9th.

Only peps that aren't involved in the draft can take on Ottawa - if no one does, then we'll just have 9 teams involved instead of 10.

xander
04-20-2004, 04:36 PM
i pm'ed rinkrat about this and he told me to put it on the thread, so i will.

at the moment the draft is gonna run top to bottom every round, meaning that who picked first in the first round (me) will do so in every round. This doesn't really seem fair, since we're all starting from scratch theres no reason to have the draft weighted towards certain teams, and it's not fun if one person is selecting at the top of every round.

hockeydude84
04-21-2004, 02:56 AM
i'll take ottawa as well i guess, and yes it does seem unfair drafting same order every round

cheers

Cayouche5
04-21-2004, 11:56 AM
I agree that it unfair to not do 1-10 10-1 1-10 ...

rinkrat13
04-21-2004, 12:00 PM
I've decided no Ottawa team (cuz no one stepped up to take over the team and cuz I'd like to have our current GM's handle one team only)

Also, we will be picking top to bottom then bottom to top and vice versa through out each round (1-10 10-1 1-10 etc).
I hope this now speeds up the draft.

Andrei_Markov is up next

He's seeing a sports shrink in the offseason, and should rebound easily.

As for the Chicago Blackhawk's pick, we are pleased and yet again shocked to be able to select quite possibly the best two-way forward in the game of hockey, C Sergei Fedorov! Fedorov, paired with Forsberg who is converted to his former position of LW, makes for one of the best and most unstoppable combos in the league.

Now that I have drafted a young Forward and Goaltender plus one of the best Dmen in the league, my focus can now shift to drafting the best man available...

Bobby Ryan Getzlaf
04-22-2004, 09:01 PM
As much as we as an organization know there is a need for a defenseman or goalie, we cannot yield to the temptation of a great forward, and would like to announce that the Chicago Blackhawks are more than proud to select right winger Jarimor Jagr!

A line of Forsberg-Fedorov-Jagr would not only be very good defensively, it would also be very, very sick.

I agree that this is gotta speed up a bit... Two suggestions - 1. make the time limit to 8 hours or 2. find a day/time every GM can be on line for about an hour or so - so we can hammer out as much as we can in that time.

I'm just assuming that Sunday is a day when not many are working or have school - so how about tomorrow (say, early afternoon)?!?

Post here or PM me with your ideas...

It looks like Desibasha (Calgary) has gone bye bye (with only 6 post made - and I'm pretty sure all those post where made on this thread) anyway, it's safe to say he/she wont be back.

Now, the queston I have for all of you is - What do we do with the two players (Jarome Iginla & Rick Nash) Desibasha did draft? any suggestions? do we just go along without including Iggy & Nash or do we find a way to fit them into the pool of players available?

whatcha think?

I just don't anyone to get board and forget about this draft - I've seen it ahppen too many times with other mocks.. if you want out, just say so!

I don't remember who's idea it was for an 8 hour time limit - although that person posted it on this thread and NO-ONE said anything about it then... I should also defend myself here (a little) although I am running this mock like a (friggin) boot camp I have sometimes given peps more then 8 hours (and you ahve been one of them) just trying to start and finish a mock draft for the first time this season... thats it!

it was my idea. I don't see a problem with it. it doesn't meen you have to be on the board ever 8 hours, it meens you to be on the board 8 hours from when the last person picked. theres 9 people in the draft, so theres plenty of time between your picks. It should work so you make a pick once every 2 days, so you just have to get here once ever 2 days. Other drafts have 6 hour limits, so i don't see how this is so bad.

and if you miss a pick, it's not a big deal, just make it when you get here.

Before our pick, the Chicago Blackhawks would like to announce the move to Anaheim, to become the Mighty Ducks.

(Sorry if it creates any confusion, but I don't think I could live the lie anymore, as I'll likely end up with 6 or 7 former Ducks, and the former franchise player, and I'm also a huge fan. I swear to god, every time I make a pick I type in Mighty Ducks instead of Blackhawks, then change it, so I figured this'll make everything better.)

after a pick like that I just had to change your team's name (look on 1st page) - only a homer like yourself coulda pulled that off :joker:

not saying Niedermayer isn;t a good player or that he doesn't deserve to be picked, just that he coulda been had in the last round if you really wanted him, or if someone would've picked him before you (in that last round) you gotta dealt for him and it wouldn't of costed that much... I can't really kick a homer thou - nice pick!

I feel Rob's a good two-way threat, and I had trouble thinking of more good defensive forwards. Recchi was gonna be my pick, but he was taken just before, so I took Nieds instead. And, oh yeah, I forgot about Daze.

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT

OneSpeedOnly (PHI) has quit the draft.
I will be putting the draft on hold for tonight (gotta step out) so please don't make a pick unless you would like everyone else to know what you have/had in mind (any picks made untill the draft starts up again will be void)

I will be deciding what to do with the 15 players on PHI's roster

Marian Gaborik
Patrick Marleau
Daniel Alfredsson
Scott Hannan
Scott Gomez
Darian Hatcher
Simon Gagne
Mike Modano
Ossi Vaananen
Alexei Yashin
Evgeni Nabokov
Dainius Zubrus
Alexander Mogilny
Marcus Ragnarsson
Pavel Kubina

these 15 players will become available to the remaining GM's once the draft starts up again tomorrow - most likely we will be able to draft anyone of these guys and will have to drop a player to pick one up (kinda like a waiver draft)

If you have any suggestions, please feel free to share them here. Thanks.

I'm not having an easy time finding a replacement for OneSpeedOnly's team (PHI)
if anyone is interested, please PM me - only people that are involved already, Thanks!

If we can't find a replacement by the time this round is finished we'll return all of PHI's players back into the pool of players available for us to draft. I'm thinking of something like a wavier draft, were we will have two rounds of players (18 players) to chose from. For every pick a GM makes, they'll have to make a drop... you can also pass on your pick if you'd like.

Trade Alert!

The Vancouver Canucks have trade goalie Jean-Sebastien Giguere, their 19th round selection, and their 20th round selection, to the Anaheim Mighty Ducks for goalie Mikka Kiprusoff, defenseman Sheldon Souray, and a 22nd round selection.

This trade IMO makes our team better. The goalie swap was done mainly to get Giguere's clutch playoff play(not that Kipper is bad, but Jiggy was fantastic), to get a good pick for a defenseman, and to upgrade on a pick. Souray is a good defenseman, but we are worried that his end of the season play, which was average, and his injury prone-ness may come back to haunt the team. The pick of Zubov made him that much more expendable, and eventually sent him to Vancouver. We also upgrade picks, which can really help the team out.

We wish the best of luck to both Mikka and Sheldon in Vancouver.

It says I missed my 18th rounder, yet I picked Tootoo, so that pass should change to Jordin Tootoo.

Now, with our 19th round selections, the Anaheim Mighty Ducks are proud to select goalie Curtis Joseph and defenseman Janne Niinimaa! Niinimaa has proven to be a very solid two-way defenseman in the past, and will more than replace Sheldon Souray, making the trade that much sweeter. Joseph will make our goalie tandem so far in the league, and if Giguere fails, Cujo should do well in his place.
