Cutta 1-0
Semin 2-0
I think its obvious now that if you have the skill, you can score with Army's system.
You just need enough skill to make it happen. Semin seems to be proving that.
CapsCrazy 04-16-2004, 07:28 PM I'll tell ya' what - the AHL better look out for the Pirates!
Portland - Jared Aulin (Shaone Morrisonn, Ivan Ciernik)
Portland - Brad Parsons (Alexander Semin, Colin Forbes)
4-0 in the 3rd...Next???
bigeasy 04-16-2004, 08:51 PM 6-2 portland

:handclap: :handclap: :handclap:
portland w/ only 13 shot wow
Semin is 6 games....7 goals 4 assists 11pts. geez. Are you kidding me?
good lord.
Whoever Portland gets next must be looking at that and saying "letting that guy play is just not right."
Providence is wondering what hit them.
jincargo 04-16-2004, 09:53 PM I havent seen the games....but just listening to them...Army has opened it up just a bit at times. Yes...its having the skill there as well..but he's letting them play...which is good to see and hear.
And Semin....good lord. Hahaha! He's off the hook!! :yo:
Oh wait...he's a brat. Forgot about that. :shakehead
please. being brilliant and a brat are not mutually exclusive. it appears that he is fully enjoying himself now though. 7pts in 2 games. whew.
Holy christ this makes me wish I didn't go out tonight, I even missed the leafs :(
C-A-P-S 04-17-2004, 02:07 AM I am telling you this is going to be a great run for the Pirates. I just think the team has too many talented prospects on this team for the majority of the AHL to compete with. Semin is just abusing these people.
Have you also noticed how well Eminger has been playing in the last 10 games. This is nothing but good things for the Caps franchise!!!
I am loving it!
:gman:

Way to go, Pirates! You're certainly on a roll. Outscoring a team 13-3 in two games in their building is truly amazing. I can't understand why Providence came back with Thomas in game 2 after getting waxed in game 1. 10 goals in less than 5 periods won't get you a trip to the bigs any time soon. Next up, Hartford.
This team can be had, just keep working hard. Good luck!
jincargo 04-17-2004, 06:39 AM Nice quote from Army in the Herald on Semin...
"Sometimes he'll turn it over in the defensive zone. You eat it a little bit with a skill player, but you have to give them a little room to explore the horizon. He's got a twinkle to his eye. He may not speak much, but it transcends the language."
Army is letting the kid play...whooo hooo!

Marshall 04-17-2004, 08:28 AM Semin might be the best offensive player in the AHL right now.
Killerbeez 04-17-2004, 09:00 AM Semin might be the best offensive player in the AHL right now.
He should be. First round picks with his talent usually don't get sent down. Playing a whole season in the NHL, this must look a bit like slow motion to him right now.
slow motion to him and a ringer to the other guys.
C-A-P-S 04-17-2004, 01:28 PM I think this was just a brillant move by GMGM to put all of these guys together. My gut is telling me winning the Calder or not that if they go at least one more playoff series, that you are going to see all of these guys including Semin back playing together during the lockout.
Its really nice to see Semin putting those goals in the net. It so much more difficult at the NHL level for an 18 year to really score so to see him lighting up the AHL is really promising.
st_roland 04-19-2004, 06:09 PM I think if this beautiful freak show continues against Hartford, the rest of the AHL should be very scared. I thought the playoffs were supposed to be low scoring??
