As expected World Extreme Cagefighting is headed to pay-per-view.

The organization today announced that WEC 48, which retails for $44.99, takes place Saturday, April 24, at ARCO Arena in Sacramento, Calif.

Featured bouts include WEC featherweight champ Jose Aldo vs. Urijah Faber, lightweight champion Benson Henderson vs. Donald Cerrone, and former champ Mike Brown vs. Manny Gamburyan.

I know I won't attend another WEC card in Sacramento, that much is for sure. And at this point, I'm unsure about ordering this one. Some UFC cards make me sick to my stomach to pay $55 for. I dunno, I guess I was spoiled with great free HD WEC cards and now feel a bit cheated to have to fork $45 for this one--despite already putting two good headline fights on the card.

Thoughts?

In a month where

Mayweather fights Mosley

Shogun and Lyoto have their rematch

and

Rampage faces Rashad

I can't say the prospect of that card getting many buys is a good prospect, that's for sure.

It's bad month to have their first PPV and if it's not successful it will be their last as well IMO.

I usually enjoy the WEC cards as much if not more than the UFC ones but cost is definitely a factor in that. I probably won't order it because I'm broke.

Henderson - Cerrone II is going to be a great one though.

Seems like pretty poor timing for the first WEC PPV...I don't think it will do that well especially at that price.

The best part about WEC is that its free. I guess this means I'll be downloading WEC from now on.

I go to a sports bar and watch every UFC PPV but I'm not gonna go out for WEC and there is no way I'll pay $45 for it either.

Far too expensive for the WEC. I was willing to pay to watch a stacked WEC card, but I figured it'd be around $29.99....

Prediction, this will be the first and only PPV the WEC does.

This card should be 24.99. I would gladly pay 24.99 for a WEC card.

I think I'd honestly pay for that WEC card before I'd pay for UFC 109. Or UFC 108, 106, 105, 103. Thankfully, 110-112 all look excellent on paper.

Why has there been such a long layoff for Bowles? Was he injured?

Yeah, he broke his hand in the Torres fight.

Ditto on everything you just said. I don't think this is a good move for Zuffa.

Not to take this thread too far off course but I'd still LOVE to see Zuffa use the WEC as a "minor league" of sorts. I still can't for the life of me figure why they haven't done something like this yet.

Well, they used to use it as a minor league. But people didn't give a **** about crappy fighters like Brian Stann.

It kind of is for the LW division (and as a result, that's the WEC division I find myself least interested in).

I still think it's far too pricey but I"m really becoming torn on this subject. $44.95 seems far too expensive for your first PPV, but at the same time Aldo/Faber and Henderson/Cowboy II are pretty HUGE fights. You add Mike Brown into the conversation and all of a sudden you have 3 of the top P4P fighters (Aldo,Faber,Brown) and 2 of the better 155's in the game today......

I would like to know what kind of dollars the big boys (Aldo/Faber/Henderson/Brown/Cowboy) will get for this event. If they're charging that high of a PPV price those guys better be getting UFC money not WEC money.

This is an interesting question. Though all are locked into deals that they signed when the PPV was merely an idea being kicked around. So I doubt any of those names will see a surge in their base pay, of course, to counter this, bonusses could be made larger and more widespread.

Yep. Same here. They are fun fights, but all of the LWs are borderline top 10 guys in the UFC.

I think Henderson and Cerrone could give any UFC LW not named BJ a real challenge. I can't see either of those guys still being with the UFC by the end of next year, time for them to go to the big leagues.
