Carkner Versus Glass - Beatdown of the year

Probably the worst beating we'll see all season long. Poor Tanner. Good for him to step up to Carkner, though.

When I read the thread title I thought Carkner punched the Plexiglass or something.

Ottawa fans must be happy with Carkner, 24 fights for 500K when Laraque had 4 for 1.5M.

not to mention he's our 3rd best pk dman, he fills in whenever phillips or volchenkov take a penalty.

Orr knocked Carkner down, no damage done, Orr overpowered him and won the 1st fight, Carkner sat 5 and came back. Second fight almost the same except Carkner came out and demolised Orr's face and Orr had to leave the game.

I think Scott from Minnesota tuning that Canucks guy was a tiny bit more brutal. Either way, damn.

Carkner is awesome because he can fight with the best of them and he can play hockey.

Ouch, filled him in pretty good.

From a Canuck POV, that one was nowhere near as hard to watch as John Scott of Minnesota destroying Alexandre Bolduc.

Where was Hordi? Was he not dressed for this game? If so that is his job to challenge Carkner, no need for Glass to be doing that is Hordi is in the lineup

I'm not sure if Carkner obliges Hordichuk in this situation, though. Glass was looking to make some noise, because he wants to win a roster spot. Hordichuk has been around for a while, Ottawa at that point had all the momentum, and Carkner is just a much more useful player. The fight seemed like more of a favour to Glass than anything else, despite the outcome.

I didn't even know who he was before I picked him up on my fantasy team for some much-needed PIMs, and now I'm a fan. He's been really good for me, but even better for the Sens.

I liked the shot of Glass in the box later with the ice on his face. It almost looked like he was crying. Poor little guy.

First off, I like Glass's heart & all...and his willingness to 'take one for the team', but he should freakin' realize who he's going up against. If Carkner had laid out a Sedin or something and you have to respond - that's one thing. But in this case - Glass was a bit foolish to try & spark his team by taking on Carker. He stepped up too many weight classes in that one, and it showed.

Not sure why Hordichuk was dressed against the Canadiens the other night - who lack any real tough guys - but NOT against Ottawa who have both Carkner & Neil to contend with. Odd choice by Vigneault.

As for 'Beatdown of the year' - uhhh, no. I totally disagree. Ya, he got tuned pretty good - but it wasn't even the biggest beatdown a Canuck has taken this year.

Carkner's sure making a name for himself. And like its been mentioned he's played solid and mostly mistake free hockey all year even responsible top 4 minutes at different times this year.

I dont know all the guys around the league, but Id be surprised if there was a guy who mixed being a fighter/hockey player better then Carkner this year.

He lost one fight to Orr this year, which he got revenge for next time they met.

you gotta go watch some hordichuk tapes during his predators days son. not intimidating for a heavy, sure, but the guy at one point was the pound for pound champ and the most exciting fighter around.

Glass got beat pretty bad.

But the beatdown of the year? No, that goes to Big John Scott's beatdown on that guy whose name I forget...Bolduc?

I went to the Canucks game against Tampa and was in the VIP lounge after the game.
Glass came out and was hanging out (O'Brien and Hordichuk know people there I guess).
I asked him who was the better fighter, him or Rypien........
He said "Ryp definitely"........
