IIHF inspects goalie's pads - only 4 of 18 passed

I heard this at the start of the Czech Rep. - Latvia game from the Finnish tv commentator. He said that only 4 of the 18 goalies had regulation size pads. Vokoun wasn't one of them, his pads had to be shortened. If someone has a link about it, feel free to post it.

Hirsch's pads looked strange, with duct tape near the top - I figured they must have broken or something, but this could be why.

I heard a rumour that Noronens pads passed while Markkanen's didn't.


Yeah, Noronen just had new pads ordered for this tournament. His Buffalo ones were pretty worn out. I wonder if his old pads would've passed...

I wonder how Luongo's pads fared.

are the IIHF standards and the NHL standards the same? or if they are different, by how much?
