Which KHL players might come to the NHL next season?

Hi KHL fans,

I was wondering if you expected some actual KHL'ers to make the jump to the NHL next year.

I know filatov and Tikkonov have NHL contracts and we expect to see them in the NHL next year, but is there any other players you expect to make the jump in the NHL.

How about Babchuk? Will he be back?

Your thoughts please.

Thanks

I want Filatov and Tikhonov to stay in KHL. And why should someone go to nhl?

I have a feeling Filatov stays with CSKA. In one of his recent interviews he seemed very happy in Moscow and didnt seem that willing to go back to Columbus. Of course this was before Hitchcock was fired so maybe he changes his mind.

Karsums though is most likely going back, I say he is the most certain player going back to North America this off-season.

Karsums? with his stats in the AHL? he may go to the training cam and try making the team but he will probably be back sooner than later. Tikhonov wants to go back and is a goner, Filatov - is most likely gone too.

This is off-topic, but I didn't want to start a new thread... Do they show NHL games on TV in Russia? Or is it mostly KHL games? Thanks

Linus Omark

"Linus Omark is arguably one of the strongest offensive players in the Oilers system today.
“He's playing very very well in Russia,” Prendergast confirms.
Hopefully we’ll be able to work something out for him this summer.”

Zherdev is more likely since he only needed a place to play in hope of getting another contract in the NHL. Radulov is still under contract till 10/11.

I think Filatov and Tikhonov will both return to NHL.

Kirill Petrov, Alexander Avtsin, Yuri Alexandrov, Igor Bobkov and Sergey Andronov may all possibly try their hand in N/A.

For his development Bobkov should. He's getting buried in Magnitka's system.

I agree. He won't get playing time anytime soon with Koshechkin and Proskuryakov blocking his way.

I doubt he'll want to come back, since he went to the KHL to be a top line player which he is now and is happy.

After such a great season you were drafted by the Montreal Canadiens and you decided to report to their training camp, in which you played very well. Why did you decide to remain in Russia, despite they offered you to stay in Canada?

Avtsin: "We thought a lot if it would have been better to remain in Canada or not. We weigh the pros and cons with my mama and my agent. But then we decided that there was no need to hurry. Giving that I have the chance to play in the KHL, playing in the North American junior leagues makes no sense to me. And now I don't regret a single bit of that decision."

Do you want to come back there?

Avtsin: "I don't want to guess the future, but playing in the NHL is my dream since the childhood."

Where do you plan to spend the next season?

Viktor Tikhonov: "I have to come back to Phoenix, I have a three years deal with them. Most likely I'm going to play there."

So Russia is a like a stopover for you before returning to the USA?

- Yes, you are right. I will play in Russia till the end of this season but I can't stay here any longer. As I already said, I have a 3-year contract with the Coyotes and according to it I have to spend the last year in America, and I have no right to leave for Russia.

I didn't see that interview.

Well it sucks for the Montreal Juniors because we traded for his rights.

And now I question how badly he wants to play in the NHL.

I heard that he stayed in Russia to finish his mandatory military service.

Well that's stupid of him to stay in Russia,he's playing 4th line minutes on the pro dynamo team how's he gonna get stronger and better ?
Sure he can play in the MHL but no Offense its nothing compared to the QMJHL,
what I mean by that is there he will play for a team that's expected to contend next year and he will play top line minutes while over in the KHL he gets 3rd line minutes at best and he bounces back and forth between the KHL and MHL.

Or they could he could play in Hamilton and play 2nd line minutes there (not sure about what line he would play on).

I dont think staying in Russia will help his development unless he gets 2nd line minutes and that's not gonna happen anytime soon.

He should come to NA.

Not a big fan of the KHL myself, but the worst team in the KHL would crush the best team in the Q.

This youngster is developing in league against men. Not a league that has NO ONE over the age of 20. The skills that are possessed by his opponents are fully developed and while some of that talent may not be good enough for the NHL, I'd venture to guess that more than half the kids in the Q will not ever develope to be talented enough to play in the KHL, let alone the NHL.

Additionally, just because you don't see a kid getting 100 points doesn't mean he's not developing that aspect of his game. The plays that he is not making here, would be made over an over again with ease in the Q, how is that more beneficial to his development?
