mel bridgman is one of the more underrated fighters from the 70s and 80s

he gets overshadowed because of everybody else on those flyers teams but he had great ongoing feuds with nystrom, o'reilly, and holt among others

he also always seemed to be instigating or in the middle of almost every single bench clearing brawl the flyers were in

He also has very comparable career number to Clark Gillies in essentially a very similar role. Yet Gillies is in the HOF and Bridgeman is basically an afterthought. I don't know if that means Gillies is very overrated or Bridgeman underrated.

Terry O'Reilly is also a good comparable to those two guys and I don't think he's in the hall either.

Gillies is extremely over-rated. The Phil Rizzuto of hockey. Win a championship on a NY team and your in the HOF.
