Maybe 3 forwards and a D. Slowe 05-11-2004, 07:16 PM I noticed that the Hawks have 4 second round picks in this draft. Can anyone comfirm that? JayzinSmith 05-11-2004, 07:52 PM We have 4 2nds. Ours, stars, Preds and the flyers. Almost. The pick acquired from Philadelphia in the Zhamnov trade was originally LA's, which Philadelphia acquired for Cechmanek. So it's CHI, DAL, LA, and NSH. DougKnowsBest 05-11-2004, 08:48 PM so do yoiu guys think the hawks will take barker in the first? JayzinSmith 05-11-2004, 10:50 PM so do yoiu guys think the hawks will take barker in the first? Possibly, but probably not. I think they may either make a stupid trade to move down and pick up some average defenseman, or take one of Olesz, Schremp, or Thelen. I want them to draft Olesz. Auld Cents 20 05-12-2004, 01:16 PM Im not familiar with Thelen...any info on him?? Loki_46 05-12-2004, 05:05 PM Scouting: Rangy rearguard with terrific forward and side-to-side mobility .. long galloping stride .. a very powerful skater with excellent first-step pickup speed and agility for a big man .. needs to work on his backwards skating speed, as he at times does not backpeddle fast enough to properly ward off an outside challenge .. tough to knock off his skates due to his excellent balance and wide base .. strong puck skills .. makes hard, accurate passes that he can whip cross-ice tape-to-tape .. reads the offensive flow instinctively and loves to jump into the attack with a knack for timing his forays to maximum effect .. displays strong hands with hard ring-arounds all with a quick flick of the wrist .. uses his long reach well to intercept passes and tie up opposing forwards .. physical game at times inconsistent, but he shows an aptitude to use his body and dishes out punishing hit from time to time .. not as much intuitive sense in the defensive zone .. at times uncertain as to who to cover in front of the net, especially when the opposing team is cycling down low .. relies on his quick hands to win the 50-50 battles in the corners .. impressive physical tools .. heavy pointshot but needs to work on its accuracy .. images of young Al Iafrate come to mind .. big offensive upside, but needs to refine his overall defensive play and become a more consistent physical presence | ||
