The isles should have the 15th pick over Nashville. They both had EXACT same records but Nashville won the only head to head match up. I believe head to head is the first tiebreaker---so NYI should have the 15th pick. :dunno:

You just said Nashville won the head-to-head matchup, so they should be ahead of NYI.

Yea...and every other mock draft is having NSH at 15th overall so I think that`s correct...

NO---If both teams were going for a playoff spot and since Nashville beat us--they would get in and the NYI would have the higher pick.

I highly suggest a PM to all involved in the draft to let them know that it has started, I look in a bit and luckily picked it up, but could ahve easily been 2, 3, 4 days or so if I had not. I do not look on this particular board often enough.

Maybe not 12 hours, that's excessive, but it's standard on a lot of drafts. As far as I know, 2 rounds. I don't know enough about prospects to go too many more.

If you want to get it moving, PM the next person in the line.

As an EDM fan, looking at how this draft went, I would have to think they take Montoya, for he is the BPA in my opinion. Wolski has too many question marks for me. Another possibility could be one of the many defensemen available.

If we see JDD not being signed, and re-entering the draft, I could definately seeing them call out Montoya's name when they step up to the podium. That is if KLowe does not try and move in up the draft with the 3 picks the Oilers have in the first 44, like he claims to have done every year.

Just goes to show what I have been thinking for some time . . . after maybe pick 5 the difference in talent between say 6 and 25 is not huge, and makes this draft a crap shoot . . . Hell, after pick 2 it becomes a crap shoot, as who really knows who will go with pick 3? It makes it less likely that say washington would pay those last two picks n the first round to move up to maybe 11, or even 7 or 8 . . .why? Finally, those late firsts are maybe equal to a lower second last year, when many taken in the 2nd round would be firsts this year.

Before I pick, I will offer up the first pick of the second round in trade. Young Guns has Alvaro Montoya rated the number 3 prospect in all of 2004.

http://younggunshockey.com/monthly.htm

I am shocked that he fell this far but if anyone needs a goaltender I am looking for offers, thinking a first next year and a second this year. Any takers? Dave Bolland is also available and I am also shocked at that fall as he has been compared to Schremp as a sniper on these boards. Conversly I would offer any goaltender in our system (Caron, Chiodo, Auben) for a third round pick and keep Montoya as a one two punch with Fleury. I need to run for about three hours will wait and see if there are any offers.

He will be a teammate of my first round pick Drew Stafford next year at North Dakota (Go Gophers! :D ) so it will hopefully start some chemistry right off the bat. Was looking for wingers in this draft, but the thought is PM Bouchard may move to the wing. Anyways...that is who I pick.

*chuckles* . . . don't blame me, I freely admit that I stole this from elsewhere . . . to be honest I did a search and could not find the list anywhere, hockey really has some catching up to do in marketing . . . did anyone else see the slick NBA draft? . . . I think that the NHL did theirs at a 7-11 over a slurpie, and it took a good 45 minutes before anyone, even here in Pittsburgh where we had huge interest in the lottery, could find who had won. Did not even have it live by radio. :shakehead

They really need to market things like the draft, etc and gain more interest from 'casual' fans.

the NFL draft is a spectacle...and a ratings dynamo. Obviously Hockey doesn't have the poularity in the US for ESPN to cover the NHL draft the same way, but it would be cool to see more than the first round, or have some pre-draft coverage or something. The Edmonton Oilers would like to select goaltender David Shantz from the Mississauga IceDogs of the OHL.

The Oilers can really use another goalie prospect especially if JDD isn't signed.

That gives the Oil Mike Green, Jakub Sindel and David Shantz so far.

wheeler looks to be gone in the late first round it seems like now, plus IMO, the pens need someone who can step in shortly and not a couple of years down the road; pineault will be there for the second round, but will he last to the pens second pick??

We have ones in development who can step in now, I struggled between Lisen and Wheeler and thought that Wheeler made the most sense, he is a home run or wash out, but 6'5", playing weight of 230 most likely, just like Malkin, skates wonderfully, good hands, only question is level of play. We have all seen the Pens take skaters who can fly like the wind but never finish and Lisen just had that feel about him . . . this package of size and skill we rarely see. I decided on wheeler, and who including Lisen would step in right away anyways? That was my rational anways. Pineault I have seen go first round in many mock drafts, he should not be there if we are picking, true he fell back last year, but has speed and good scoring touch, if he recaptures that would be a steal at the end of the second round and actually was thinking of trying to trade up to get him. Again my opinion and rational for the pick, but as you can see I am so happy that I could dance with these picks . . .  .

i am not hearing good thing about lisin -- so hopefully we will pass on him or take him late in the second round

i am not disagreeing with you and if wheeler is there, it would be a good pick for the pens, but i think he will be gone in the first. pineault would be a good grab with the 31st pick and IMO, i think a lot of decent forwards will fall into the second round cause its going to be a crap shoot on draft day

With the first pick of the third round, Pittsburgh proudly welcomes, late of the Mighty Ducks (their number 4 rated prospect according to HF), and currently the captain of the St. Michael's Majors, Tim Brent.

http://www.hockeysfuture.com/prospect.php?pid=2556

Through three rounds our picks are three centers of quality, and one wing:

Yevgeny Malkin (C)
Blake Wheeler (C)
Adam Pineault (W)
Tim Brent (C)

And suddenly a position of weakness, especially the center position, becomes one of potential strength for the Pens.

Thanks tripledekhockey . . . I have my doubts that the Pens will get this lucky, but I will be dancing down Grant street if their draft looks anything like this. This was my second mock draft, first picking (last one was an autodraft) and it was enlightening, I enjoyed every minute and the Pens seem well positioned to have some quality fall their way with the first pick every round (but round one of course) and those extra mid 2nd and 3rd round picks.
