Here is the STORY (http://www.uscho.com/news/2004/05/17_008513.php). Of the candidates listed, who do you think is the best candidate?

Niagara would get my vote due to it's geographical location and the fact that it would help "NY Travel Partners" Cornell and Colgate as far as cutting down the road travel.

Holy Cross or Niagara would get my vote.

I have to stay true to the closest NCAA D-1 team to me, and hope Niagra does not get it. Alabama-Huntsville would be hurt by it, and they are the best shot Atlanta has at getting the Frozen Four.

I would wager that it is Holy Cross.

Holy Cross is a good bet as well, because they'd be near Harvard with Brown not too far away. However, the state of NY is well represented in the ECAC: Aside from Cornell and Colgate, you've also got the "North Country" teams of Clarkson and SLU as well as RPI and Union College. Now if the committee decides to go with Mercyhurst, that could benefit Princeton because Mercyhurst is in Pennsylvania...likely Princeton's closest road rival. The other team in the ECAC bidding mix is Quinnipiac. Should the Bobcats get the nod, that would benefit Yale because then Yale would have an in-state, in-conference rival.

That all said, all four...er...five teams have done a trememdous job of building up their programs in recent years (to varying degrees of success). Of the three schools, only Quinnipiac has never won their confererence or made an NCAA National Tourney appearance.

Oops! My bad.

Thanks for the correction.

In PA, but WAY on the other side on the lake (hence the Lakers). I'm pretty sure it wouldn't be the closest to Princeton. I hope it's Mercyhurst because that's where I'm from and I could go see some great hockey when I visit the folks.

It's a whole lot more to cross all of PA.

It's a whole lot more to cross all of PA. I can tell you from experience that it's even further than it looks, too. There is only one good highway across the state, it's through the mountains, and constantly under construction. Not a good combination.

My geography is off on Mercyhurst...sorry about that. For some reason I thought it was in eastern PA.

Good thing I was here to represent! :)

My best friend went to Mercyhurst. So did my aunt. They host the best fireworks in the city every Fourth of July. It's a big event. Good times.
