One of the best scrappers in the history of the NHL is rumoured to have died today after collapsing on a boat.

Just heard about it on the SportsCentre update, very sad. He was one of the best fighters of his generation.

When you think of Old Time Hockey, you think of Bob Probert.

An ambassador to the game. He will be missed.

A true legend, who fought and played by a strict honour code. Old time hockey in its truest form.
He meant a lot to me growing up, and my thoughts are with his family at this time.
I'd like to send my condolences to the family and close friends of Bob as well.

Very sad day. I grew up watching Probert. He's a legend in his own right and will always be remembered.

This video shows a lot about what Probert was like in his style. Listen to him around 2:30 - 2:55. Win with dignity and respect.

RIP Probie/

I just looked him up because I was bored and I knew he was a sick fighter (one of the best in the league for a looong time) but he had a 29 goal, 33 assist, 398 PIM season. That's nuts

I know he had his demons but it is still very sad to hear of him passing so young.

He was a blend of talent, toughness and honour on the ice.

I was born in 93, so I don't really have any memories of watching him play. However, I know who he is, and what legacy he's left behind. RIP to the toughest player to lace em up.

I'm still in a bit of shock that he's gone.

It sucks. One of my favorite players of all time and the best at doing his job. But you know what's the worst? He leaves behind a wife and 4 young kids who have to grow up without their father. It's just really sad.

RIP Bob Probert. You are the Wayne Gretzky of hockey fighting and the ultimate teammate.

Probie played in the All Star Game in STL that year. A lot of people forget about the talent that he had to go along with the fact that he was the toughest Hockey fighter ever arguably.

RIP Probie Hockey fans will miss you Bro.
