Any word on Tarasenko-reported to Sibir's camp?

On The St. Louis Blues Board, we know that Vladimir Tarasenko stated on July 9th that he would know in "about a week" whether or not he would be able to get out of his Novosibirsk KHL contract for THIS season. Novosibirsk's camp has been going for a few days. Last we heard he had not yet reported. We are now almost a week from July 9th. Does anyone here know if he has reported yet. Ostensibly, he had not yet reported because he still thought he had a chance to get out of the contract obligation.

Does anyone here know anything more on his situation?

he will play in Sibir, no doubt. It is funny that Americans believe that Tarasenko will play in NHL next season

Wow, you are very sure he is staying
We have been thinking he is trying to come over because he said he is ready to come over and we could definitely use his help. If he isn't coming this season is it likely to come next season?

He doesn't say that he thinks he's coming over this season. He is asking because Tarasenko has said that he wants to come over this season and is trying to get out of his contract with Sibir. Also, he has yet to report to camp which could mean that he is still trying to get a release.

The question that everyone want to ask you: where will you play during the next season?

Tarasenko: I still don't know, my agent is now discussing this with Sibir's staff. It's not clear yet. It's not up to me. This topic is closed for now since I don't know myself what to expect and what all will be.

What could we crazy American's possibly be thinking?

Or we Canadians, for that matter.

From what I've read, Tarasenko has a buyout clause in his KHL contract that would give him the option of buying out the second year of his 2-year contract (2011-12). That would have to be paid entirely by himself (The NHL team is prohibited from buying out his contract).

So, if he is telling the truth about wanting to play in The NHL as soon as possible, he will likely play in The NHL in 2011-12. I am sure that he has saved enough money from last year's contract, that, added together with money he earns from playing for Novosibirsk THIS season, will form enough for the buyout. If not, I'm sure he could get a loan, based on the estimate of his 2011-12 NHL contract potential $850,000 rookie minimum, plus $750,000 incentive clause provision ($1.5-1.6 million or so). If he can't come THIS season (more likely), there should be nothing to stop him from coming for 2011-12.

The translated Russian newspaper articles I read, which discussed the 2nd year buyout clause, said nothing about any clause covering the first year. I have no idea what basis Tarasenko and his agent are using to think he can get out of the first year of his current KHL contract. Personally, I think it's an extreme longshot. But, Tarasenko not showing up for the first days of Sibir's camp leads me to believe that HE thinks there is a reasonable chance he can get out of THIS SEASON'S obligation. So, we are forced to wait at least a few more days before knowing where he will play.

haha maybe he thinks that if he doesn't show up they will kick him off the team and then he can sign where ever he wants to :sarcasm:

I can't remember the exact source. But, I believe it was a posted statement by a poster named "Siberian Tiger" from The PD Forum (who lives in Novosibirsk)-(Or maybe it was Rosso from HF Blues' Board?). In any case, it was a Russian fan, whose word I took, as what he says has always been true. It wasn't, however, any official comment or news article.

There was also an interview before the draft where he said he wants to stay in Russia another year to give back to his team. He likes it there, I'm sure he will be in the KHL another year.... His KHL team isn't going to make it hard for him to leave because his dad is there, but I'm sure the deal from there side will require a years service from Tarasenko's side, especially seeing this year that he will probably be a first line player.

Are there no Russian members here who know of a way we can check to see if he has reported yet to Camp? Isn't there an official status report on players for each team?

I tried to register at their site to ask on the forum but it wouldn't accept my IP address (US).

But according to this recent picture (taken a few days ago), Tarasenko has in fact showed up to camp for HC.

Actually I just used a translator on this page, and it shows Vladimir Semenov listed as head coach(Not Tarasenko), which I believe would make this last seasons photo. I could be wrong, but there's no indication that this photo was just taken.

Under the headline is "season 2010/2011" and if you click on coctab, which means roster, Tarasenko is listed there.

Yes, I see the 2010-11 roster list with Tarasenko's name. But, he should be on that list because he's under contract for this season. That doesn't mean he has reported. So, we don't know any more than we knew before. It is now 8 days since July 9th. We should be hearing the decision any hour now. I suspect that he was not able to get out of this season's commitment. But, it would be nice to know for sure.

Can someone please tell us if he is in camp?

In St. Louis we probably have some of the worst sources in the league. While I appreciate Jeremy Rutherford and Andy Strickland, they just tell us things we already know.

Frustrating to say the least. So any news on Tarasenko would be great folks..

Will Camp in Riga start tomorrow? I hope someone following the team will be able to tell us if Tarasenko has arrived.

It is now 4 days AFTER the time he was to announce the decision. It is probable that he COULD NOT get out of his 2010-11 obligations to Novosibirsk, and he will report. But, we'd like to know the final answer so we can move on.

HC Sibir press-attache said, that everyone who is in the roster on the site - will be in the training camp.

That is confirmed, at least in Tarasenko's case, as Rosso commented on 22 July, that "despite rumours of his coming to NA THIS summer, Tarasenko will join The Blues in summer 2011".

I assume that he has reported to Riga by now. When is their first practise?

Already. First friendly game will be at Jul 30th vs Neftekhimik Nizhnekamsk. But:

I wrote it a few week ago. Some people did not believe me. Now It is sure, Tarasenko will stay in KHL

Wow, you are some kind of sorcerer.

Uhm... Tarasenko himself was the one whose comments led to some thinking he could possibly come over this year. Blues fans were well aware that it was unlikely he would be able to get out of this season due to there being no out clause. Now there is no possibility of him playing for Sibir past the upcoming season. Feel right if you like.....but understand that it was pretty common knowledge he would be playing in Sibir this season barring some agreement being reached with management. So have fun with your "I participated" ribbon.:sarcasm:
