Isn't his name polish?

Surnames with -sky endings can be also Belorussian ones not only Polish ones. Though long time ago some part of Belorus was part of Poland.

"What is not too well known is that the best player who ever played hockey has ties to Belarus. No, Wayne Gretzky is not Belarusian but his grandfather immigrated to Canada at the beginning of the 20th century from a town in Belarus called Mogilev, which soon became a part of the Soviet empire."

Doesn't really matter where Kiprussoffs grandfather is from... he is Finnish and that's all there is to it.
