Pulp Fiction 07-28-2010, 12:48 PM Just did a mock on ESPN, and I was wondering how HF thought my team was. Keep in mind it's a mock, and that it's my first of the year, what do you guys think?
QB: Tom Brady - 19th overall
RB: Adrian Peterson - 2nd overall
RB: Pierre Thomas - 39th overall
RB/WR: Brandon Jacobs - 42nd overall
WR: Miles Austin - 22nd overall
WR: Dwayne Bowe - 59th overall
TE: Kellen Winslow Jr. - 79th overall
D/ST: Eagles - 82nd overall
K: Stephen Gostkowski - 102nd overall
Bench:
Jahvid Best, RB - 62nd overall
Devin Aromashodu, WR - 99th overall
Matt Ryan, QB - 119th overall
Ahmad Bradshaw, RB - 122nd overall

ixcuincle 07-28-2010, 12:50 PM Pretty solid
Renegade Stylings 08-11-2010, 02:47 PM Matt Ryan @ 119th is hilariously awesome.

Not sure about that. Matt has not been a great Fantasy QB. Could change this year. Talent is there. Talent around him is there. Problem is that Atlanta is a run first team.
Renegade Stylings 08-12-2010, 01:30 AM I just expect a better year from him this season. Too many weapons to choose from.
BGDDYKWL 08-12-2010, 04:52 AM AP 2nd is a no-brainer. Brady at 19 is too early IMO. Guys like Eli/Kolb/Flacco/Cutler are slipping real late this year, I'm talking like 10th round. Even a guy like Matt Ryan should be decent, and as you can see he's going real late.
I really like Miles Austin at 22. I'd take a combination of him and then maybe Ryan Grant, Ryan Mathews, Calvin Johnson, Desean Jackson, Roddy White, Larry Fitzgerald, etc. at 22. Too many good QBs in the later rounds.
Pierre Thomas is solid at 39, but I'm not a fan of Brandon Jacobs at 42. Probably some better options there - perhaps McCoy, Wells, Ronnie Brown (eh), etc. Bowe at 59 looks about right. Winslow has really gone late in the mocks so while I like him this year, you should be able to get him minimum 10-20 picks later.
You picked a defense and kicker too early IMO. Usually I like picking those in the last 3 rounds. I really like Best at 62, although I don't think he'll be there when your league actually drafts (unless it's soon). I also like that you have Bradshaw because if Jacobs gets hurt he has a lot of value.

I agree with basically everything that you said except Miles Austin.

Of the The #1 defenses in the last 5 years only one has finished in the top 10 the following year.
So yeah, it's silly to take a defense early. And kickers should always be your last pick.
