neg marron 05-27-2004, 02:53 PM i'd like to analyze the sabres picks who we kept who was let go for finacial reasons ex sabres dropped the ball on ziggy and gave up to soon on hyacinthe :banghead:
let's analyze each round
hyacinthe update just won league championship with verdun dragons quebec semi pro spoke to his parents will be heading to cuba for some r&r when he returns he will be talking to several nhl teams that like his play among them the wild..i'd love to see him as a sabre, hab or flyer...he's more of a playmaker than a scoring machine plays a lunch bucket blue collar style like peca :hockey:  :sabres

1999 Draft Review (http://www.hockeysfuture.com/article.php?sid=6959&mode=threaded&order=0)
Consider it done...not by me, though. A nice debut article from Kris Baker, a new writer for the Sabres page. Welcome aboard, Kris!
Rob Paxon 05-27-2004, 10:11 PM Great to see some new Sabres stuff getting done. If I was able to attend enough games and interview prospects I'd certainly have offered my services as a writer, at which I'm none too shabby.
Rob Paxon 05-27-2004, 10:32 PM Correction: "Connolly suffered a concussion at the end of the 2002-2003 regular season and missed all of the 2003-2004 season." He was actually injured during the 2003-2004 training camp. Not a really important discrepancy, but it makes him seem out of the loop longer than he was.
Also a typo in "Zigomanis went into back into".
Just a heads up -- I thankfully get lots of e-mails from people with corrections for my sites.
Hmm.. not sure if the writer is going to read this anyhow? :dunno:
SabresRule 05-28-2004, 05:33 AM Two notable players taken off the board following Buffalo’s choice of Heisten: Nick Boynton (21st to Boston), and Martin Havlat (26th to Ottawa).
*loads gun, goes regier hunting*
Kruschiki 05-28-2004, 06:48 AM well written.

Well every draft has steals, the draft is the biggest crap shoot.I'm not going to get pissed if they pick in the bottom of the 1st and get a bust, about 50 players make it from each draft, so the odd's are not very good.
LALALALALALAFONTAINE 05-28-2004, 09:55 AM If Miller turns out to be an All-World goalie, this draft will be very good regardless of what anyone else does.
littleHossa 05-28-2004, 11:00 AM Boynton had amazing numbers in his OHL career, was the captain of the Ottawa 67s that won the Memorial Cup, had good size and was already drafted once at #9. The Sabres and Reghier shouldn't of let him pass, he was a safe(r) pick. Maybe they though that he wouldn't want to sign to another small market team however, but Boston still got him even with their spending habits.
The Spaz 05-28-2004, 11:01 AM What a horrible draft!?

look who he could have had tho.
Kruschiki 05-28-2004, 02:12 PM look who he could have had tho.
you can look at every draft that way.
The Spaz 05-28-2004, 02:13 PM Hindsight is 20/20
Takeo 05-28-2004, 02:14 PM look who he could have had tho.
But in hindsight, that point could be applied to practically every pick in every draft. In 1997, we could have had Brenden Morrow. In 1998, we could have had Brad Richards. In 2000, we could have had Justin Williams. In 2001, we could have had Alexander Perezhogin or Jeff Woywitka.
Actually, now that I think about this, it seems like we get better value in the 2nd round than we do in the 1st! We need to quit reaching early on and just go with the safest talent. Go ahead and blow em up. That's cool with me.

Kris did a very good job, please pass my kudos on (unless he's a poster in which case he can read it himself :D ). Hopefully adding some staff means we can get the prospect pages updated and some new profiles written maybe why not? :help:

ye, i guess, hindsight 20/20.
i just presumed they were a better bet. considering other failure's when we drafting gritty scoring wingers.

Thanks for the kind words regarding the 1999 evaluation, and to Rob Paxon for pointing out the misinformation regarding Connolly's concussion. Look for for more updates to the Sabres page in the weeks leading up to the draft, as it's my mission to give readers the most comprehensive coverage of potential future Sabres. Feedback is welcome and encouraged!
Regards,
Kris Baker, Sabres Staff Writer
