Ticket sales went down over 77 % the second week in theaters and theaters only averaged $ 285 this past weekend. :amazed: No wonder it's coming out so soon on DVD.

FromTheSide 09-21-2010, 05:51 PM What, the "coming to DVD" in the first week didn't give it away?
KesselBuiltMyHotrod 09-21-2010, 07:10 PM They planned the dvd release long before it went to theaters. It's not some reaction to poor ticket sales. They expected that. That's why it's only in like 100 theaters.
Fish on The Sand 09-21-2010, 08:24 PM apparently there weren't enough privileged people
And this is a surprise to people?

Its only in 100 oe so theaters cause theaters wouldnt pick up this movie which had Fail written all over it.
They took their PG crap too far, noone wants to see a drama starring a WWE wrestler. Going away from action movies I think turned off even the WWE fanbase from going to this one.
I actaually enjoyed that WWE Stone Cold movie, The Condemned. Thats the kind of film they should be making if using wrestlers in starrring roles.

Yeah that's not really how it works, or what happened. This is part of their new release strategy, which was announced before Legendary was even finished. Their movies always make money on dvd, but not in theaters. So, they give the movie a small release, avoid distribution and advertising costs, and release the dvd at basically the same time to maiximize the ad campaign.

Are they going to do that with Knucklehead? They showed a preview on Sunday and it actually looked pretty funny. I'd consider seeing it.

Yep. They actually shot Knucklehead and Legendary back-to-back, as another money-saving measure.

Wrong. They were implementing a campaign to petition your local movie theater to carry it, obviosuly it didnt work out. That shows they wanted it at theaters. Noone wanted to carry this one.
John Cena* 09-22-2010, 06:05 AM The movie was only in a few theaters so what did you expect lol. It was always coming out on dvd the week after.

How about noone wants to watch a drama with high school wrestling as the back story? Make it football or virtually any other sport and it had a chance. That is the reason why it had Fail written all over it.

Yeah because we haven't seen a million freaking movies about high school football already. Its a wrestler in a movie about wrestling.

lol what campaign? Mentioning something like that on air a couple times? Yeah, real effort their. I'm sure they expected a 1,000 theaters out of that! You're acting like theaters never carry terrible movies. If they wanted it in a wide release, it would have been. All their other films, they went with a major distributor (Fox, Lions Gate). This time, they went with a small indie distributor that does small releases. Of course, I'm sure if the movie did exceptionally well, they would have expanded the release, but they never planned on it. Here's an article from March about it: http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/hr/content_display/film/news/e3i82424a74b1dd91197917281abbceab4b.

Yes, we have. And do you know why there have been a million freaking movies about high school football? Because football is the most popular sport in the US and some people will go to those movies just because football is a part of it.
On the other hand, amateur wrestling is hardly popular, and as a result, many people won't go see it since that is the backstory. Thus, doomed to fail from the jump.
If you take the exact same plotline, cast, etc and insert football instead of wrestling it most likely would have been more popular just because football was involved.

Out of curiosity ASF what are your top 10 movies of all time?

I can't really make a list I like a lot of movies and I don't have a favorite. LOTR trilogy is probably top 5. You can judge by some 'movie' actors I like. Some of my favorite actors are Wahlberg (my favorite on the big screen), Matt Damon, Denzel Washington, Liam Neeson, Johnny Depp, Will Smith among others. But this is all big screen.
I'm more of a tv fan though. I like the under rated actors that don't get the recognition they deserve so honestly my all around favorite actor would be Matthew Fox. I like guys like Fox, Terry O' Quinn, Bryan Cranston, Stephen Moyer, Ryan Kwanten, and even Jason Ritter, among others. These guys that don't get the recognition they deserve because they aren't on the big screen enough. But everything they do is spectacular work.

Patricia Clarkson was in Miracle. I don't know how you can be a hockey fan and have never seen that.

Just a heads up that Danny Glover has probably made about 3x the money that Cena has in his life. And when Cena washes out in 4-5 years, Glover will still be making movies that rake in millions at the box office.
FACT: Glover was the lead in a film that was released in 26 theatres (compared to Legendary with Cena in the lead in 177 theatres) which made more than Legendary by approximately $75,000. He also made another film that was released in 23 theatres and grossed over $1,000,000. Embarassing much?
In fact, every movie that Glover has released in over 100 theatres has out-performed Legendary.
To say Glover isn't known is just proving that you must not pay much attention to film. He's an A-List actor, no question. He's been in 20+ films which have grossed $40,000,000 or more. Cena's three (3) movies combined haven't even grossed $40,000,000. :biglaugh:
John Cena* 09-24-2010, 05:11 PM That's your opinion. I could name actors that drop a movie in 1 theater and out sell Glover lol. Why all the Glover love? he's never in top 100 actor discussions and why would you compare his filmology to Cena's. That's like comparin Cena to Zach Ryder in the wwe lol.

Actually people are backing up Glover because he has been in movies people have actually heard of and seen. the only reason I know of movies Cena has been in is cause I watch WWE. if I did not watch WWE, I would not even know who Cena is let alone that he has been in a "movie" (if you can call them that)
