According to the latest issue of Super Luchas magazine in Mexico, CMLL star Mistico has signed a contract with World Wrestling Entertainment. Mistico is pictured on the magazine's cover and the headline indicates Mistico saying that he has signed with WWE. Mistico took part in a tryout before company officials last year and impressed.

BackGroundMusic 01-30-2011, 06:13 PM He was ranked as the top guy in the world a few years back. It'll be interesting if they do anything with him.
The Duke 01-30-2011, 06:16 PM This guy needs to come in and retire Rey and take over his spot.

No, the WWE needs more cruiser-weights. Even if Mistico does well in WWE and Mysterio stays they still need more.
I would'nt read in to this much. Look what they did with Ultimo dragon. :help:

That's was like 10 years ago, when they weren't desperate for new stars.

And didn't Ultimo get badly injured or was already dealing with some pretty bad injuries around that point that derailed his career?
I liked what Chavo was able to do in the Rumble, nice spot for him and tribute to Eddie, if they wanted to get the Cruiserweight going again, giving him more spot time would be a good start to add depth.
But that stuff will be kept to Superstars, sadly.
Why do all the Mexicans wear masks?
GarbageGoal 01-30-2011, 11:15 PM Why do all the Mexicans wear masks?
It's a cultural tribute back to the days of the Aztec warriors, who entered battle with iconic helmets with face shields representing the gods.
Of course, not all wear masks. A lot end up losing them in mask matches which is basically the ultimate insult. But there are some pretty famous non masked Luchas like Perro Aguyo, Negro Casas and Cien Caras. Alberto Del Rio wears a mask as Dos Caras Jr, like his father.
I think Mistico will be a good replacement for Rey someday. My problem is that WWE has shown no ability to handle cruisers or Luchas. They are actually worse than WCW was, and that says something.
WalterSobchak 01-30-2011, 11:42 PM sooooo, why didn't they put a mask on Kaval?

WCW was built up by their CW and Luchas in the early/mid 90s'. Lets not let the final few years of a product completely overshadow the early successes WCW had. WWE on the other hand has never handled them well. Vince needs his "superstars" to be larger than life.
The Kremelin Wall* 01-31-2011, 03:26 AM Eh. Mistico is too Lucha for the WWE as is. He really looks slow and boring when he's not doing his spots. Lucha is also known for it's lack of psychology. From what I saw of his New Japan stint he is very hit or miss. He's almost Rey circa 1993, so Rey with knees. La Mistica is too silly for the WWE though, so he's going to need a new finish. He'll need a decent amount of time in FCW if they want him to be successful however.
Nice to see WWE bringing in foreign stars though. It would be nice if they brought in someone from Japan who wasn't the worst guy on the roster like Tatsu. The only guy who looks "WWE" though is Go Shiozaki and MAYBE Masayuki Kono. If Shiozaki left NOAH though they would be left without a single young guy who can be a star and fall into joke territory like Zero1. KENTA would work for a cruiserweight division even though he sucks and has no psychology.
WWE will likely sign King Fale eventually though. 6'4 Pacific Islander near 300 pounds? Sounds like a match made in WWE heaven.

They tried out several guys when they went to Japan not long ago, but I don't think they signed any of them. I remember BxB Hulk was one.
Vic Rattlehead* 01-31-2011, 09:59 AM He'll be fine.
Hell, WWE turned this:

Why would they? I don't recall him wearing a mask as Low Ki or Senshi and he's from Brooklyn?
KesselBuiltMyHotrod 03-28-2011, 02:07 AM He's now working house shows with Primo.

Top-rope C4. :amazed: Still using La Mistica.
Le Tricolore 03-28-2011, 01:19 PM Holy...
El Dandy 03-28-2011, 01:24 PM Tremendous.
However, I give him 2 years tops before he leaves. His build up reminds that of Ultimo Dragon. He'll be hot for a month or 2, then he'll just be there.
Obviously the ceiling is Rey Mysterio, but realistically he could just be used as a masked Evan Bourne.

Early 90s? Didn't Bischoff bring them in around 95-96? And WCW gave them the airtime, but WCW also held them back greatly. Say what you will about how Vince has handled those types, but he has put the strap on Jericho, Guerrero, Benoit, Mysterio, etc. That counts for something too.

Two moves better than anything pretty much anyone else has. The Top Rope move could be a legit finisher
KesselBuiltMyHotrod 03-28-2011, 11:02 PM According to WWE.com, Sin Cara will be debuting on Raw next week.
Le Tricolore 04-05-2011, 01:00 AM So that was cool.
GarbageGoal 04-05-2011, 12:22 PM I disagree about him being like Ultimo. I think Dragon was pretty well beat up by that point and couldn't do what he used to while this kid is still in his prime. The one drawback (and this hurt Ultimo being of Asian decent) is that Smackdown is no longer geared to a Latino audience like it was on UPN which really boosted Rey, Eddie, Chavo and the rest. If he gets programmed over there with ADR, things could be interesting but he's not going anywhere with Sheamus.

I think he's feuding with Sheamus for no other reason than to give him the belt right away. Don't forget, Sheamus may be big, but he showed in his ladder match with Morrison at TLC that he can work with a high flyer. I could see a ladder match between Sheamus and Sin Cara at Extreme Rules to put the belt on Sin Cara.

I can't see many willing to take that top rope move though. I mean only two people (Truth and Bryan) will even take Sheamus' real finisher in WWE, what makes you think they would take that?

Plus it doesn't come off like a finishing move you could set-up on a regular basis. More like a move of opportunity.
I do agree the belt will be on him quickly, not that it means anything.
CarlWinslow 04-05-2011, 04:40 PM He got so much height off the top rope. I was impressed.
Tapparan Mies 04-05-2011, 09:45 PM Give me guys like sin cara, super crazy, rey ect ect any day over boring ***** like orton who brings NOTHING to the ring

You mean like the 619?
This guy is gonna be a superstar. They should have Paul Heyman as his mouth piece.
CaptainCrunch67 04-06-2011, 10:21 AM I guess that WWE was concerned on his ring entrance that he would miss the mini trampoline that they slid out from under the ring during his entrance.

Apparently whoever was under the ring didn't slide it out far enough, causing Sin Cara to almost botch the spot. Made it over the ropes, though. This close call caused him to call an audible, which led to that wicked cross-body off the top rope. Was supposed to be a flying tornado twist splash, whatever that is.
