Jerry Lawler appreciation thread

Okay, I don't know where this nostalgia run is going, especially considering Jerry has never been an upper card guy in the WWF/E by his own admission, but there is no doubt the guy has a certain gift of gab that ranks among some of the best mic workers of all time.

Last night, I was reviewing some of my favorite You Tube vids of all time, the day Ric Flair showed up on Saturday morning Memphis Wrestling. No doubt Flair does his part, but Jerry's sly badgering, especially during the second video, is classic territorial anti-hero face stuff. For those who never saw Jerry outside of his WWE work, it's great.

Mind your own damn business Jerry, this don't concern you!

He's ok on Raw, but getting a world title match on s PPV is dumb.

But yes, he can certainly talk and was entertaining in his day.

I'm actually starting to think he might win the World Title. Just maybe. They could really easily do a Kane-like reign (1-night) where Cena interferes and costs him the title. It would make the crowd hate The Miz even more, be a huge pop, and the crowd would hate seeing The Miz win the following night.

A clean win would also be nice for The Miz.

My favourite Lawler moment (all 3 videos from Summerslam 1993);

The more I think about it, I could see this instead at Wrestlemania;

Handicap Match;

Jerry Lawler vs. Alex Riley & Michael Cole.

Something happens where Riley is holding Lawler to Cole to smoke. Cole hits Riley which 1) knocks Riley out of the ring or 2) Pisses Riley off who leaves ringside, which would allow Lawler to decimate Cole for a few seconds before getting the victory.

Riley vs. Lawler could be a passable match if kept fairly short. And Michael Cole (only involved in the finish) getting his face punched in by Lawler would just be bitter sweet for many people.

LOL @ Hart/Lawler. According to Hart's auto-biography, he was really leaning in to that Sharpshooter (getting Lawler back for some dangerous shots Lawler took at him at King of the Ring) and the refs joined in on it, putting more pressure on Lawler's back!
