With the stars again taking no offensive threats in the recent draft, Jokinin becomes important to the stars. Can Jokinin make the NHL ? If so can he be a scorer or playmaker in the league

His first steps will be difficult. He won't be able to score enough at first, if ever, so he has to shift gears and play a high-energy game again to warrant a roster spot. He did manage that in his rookie season in SM-Liiga, I hope he hasn't grown up and lost his young enthusiasm just yet.

The skill-oriented game his plays now brings out the playmaker in him, but he could still revert back to a high shooting bias.

How is he different than Niko Kapanen then? Obviously a little bigger but he struggles to score as well

I don't know how you can even make that comparison. There are hundreds of players in the world who wouldn't/don't look out of place on NHL level but can't score enough, temporarily or not, to warrant an offensive role. Kapanen is too far-fetched a comparison at least in Finnish standards.

In my laziness I am really asking a question rather than making a statement. Do you think Jokinin can be a scorer in the NHL and why or why not? No offense intended

None even considered to be taken. It's as simple as it can get, how much he can developed his offensive skills. There are currently six Finnish forwards who can score in the NHL. I don't see Jokinen being a top six Finn at any point so in that sense the odds are against him, but we can hope that the number will grow even after the current veterans fade away.

I hope so . They have a real need in dallas for future scorers. Miettinen will be given a real chance this year. 15 goals would be great. I hope that is possible.

I think Jussi Jokinen has taken big steps forward during the summer. Starsdude asked shall he be future scorer in the NHL. Think he's near to NHL level. In finland in my opinion Jokinen was better plaeyr than Tuomo Ruutu, but Ruut is more NHL style player.

Jussi's assets are fast legs and hands. In that point of view he is like Niko Kapanen. He turn and moves fast, but straight skating is super fast like Kariya. He doesn't normally try find free ice to keep the puck intead of it he normally go toward the goal or passes.

Think he can be quite good scorer in the NHL. He has great hockey sence and gives clever passes. He see teamates very rapidly and is very good behind the net. He is also very good near boards, but needs more muscles for NHL level. He also has goal scoring sence. He is qiuite often goal scoring places, but hes is avarage scorer. His shot isn't good, but it isn't bad either. Sometimes he hesitates goal scoring chances but in the hot streaks he but pucks in the net after fine moves.
