I'll do a quick count, but as all signings from Europe aren't done yet, we don't know for sure. Some players might also leave NHL late in the offseason. If I'm wrong somewhere, please tell!

Goalies: 10
(Lehtonen, Nurminen, Kiprusoff, Toskala, Markkanen, Toivonen, Ahonen, Noronen, Hurme, Nittymäki)

Defensemen: 13
(Numminen, Väänänen, Lydman, Niniimaa, Timonen, Salo, Berg, Pitkänen, Kukkonen, Levokari, Kesä, Pettinen, Ahlen)

Forwards: 21
(Selänne, Koivu, Lehtinen, Jokinen, Ruutu, S Kapanen, N Kapanen, Hagman, Laaksonen, Nieminen, Hahl, Ruutu, Pirnes, Miettinen, Pikkarainen, Rita, Salmelainen, Pihlman, Pirjetä, Bergenheim, Somervuori)

Total: 44
We can probablu expect around 40-50 finns in the league next season. Players like Pirjetä, Bergenheim and Somervuori might go back to Finland while some players will arrive. Teemu Kesä, d, is the only new finn so far.


Left NA: Luoma, Koivisto, Laukkanen, Jokelä, Viitanen, Santala

I think you forgot Mikko Koivu, if I am not wrong he will play in North America lock-out or not..

How do you figure Mikko Viitanen is leaving the Bears? Have I missed something? However, Tomi Pettinen has signed with Lukko.

I'd guess that 8 goalies + 9 defensemen + 19 forwards = 36 players will dress and play at least once, excluding European-based players who have yet to sign.

A bit too low. Make it 39 (+Mikko Koivu +3-4 euros and the total will land at 43-44 who will play at least one game).

How do you figure Mikko Viitanen is leaving the Bears? Have I missed something? However, Tomi Pettinen has signed with Lukko.

Pettinen has a NHL release clause in his contract and is currently considering an offer from the Isles.
