Will Eddie's career be resurrected in Dallas or has age and injuries caught up to him?

I say he'll do ok, better than last year, but nothing special.

He'll get 900 yards tops with maybe 5 TD's.

No improvement. 2 measly yds per carry again.

He's done like dinner...when you blame your falling numbers on the o-line, that's beyond sad/pathetic...and its not like McNair was able to keep the defense honest with his arm... :shakehead

He's done. My guess: No more than 250 yards and 3 TD.

Guess nobody bothered to look where he went.

Troy Hambrick had 975+ yards, near 300 touches and 5 TDs. Need some back-ground on Hambrick? He had the job literally given to him by Parcells. He responded by showing up out-of-shape at Training Camp. So much so, that he was sent home and the Cowboys signed Adrian Murrell (YEARS removed from anything remotely productive) to push him for the starting job. Hambrick complained endlessly and said he was a better back than Emmitt Smith. Slow, overweigh RBs getting pushed by has-been never-weres shouldn't be carrying an ego, much less a starting job. Hambrick was, quite literally, the worst starting runningback in the NFL last year. Despite that, Parcells squeezed blood from the stone and got nearly 1000 yards and finished as one of the better rushing teams in the league. Chicken salad from chickenfeathers.

Heck, even Emmit Smith's last season in Dallas, where he was clearly done, without Parcells and with Hambrick grooming in to take over, amounted to 1000 combined yards and 5 TDs.

George is better now than Smith was then and will running behind a better line and for a better coach than Smith was. George, even at this stage, blows the doors off Hambrick. It is unfathomable to me for George not to outproduce Hambrick last year. Parcells loves to pound the ball. George, even with Jones behind him, will top Hambrick's numbers. A career resurrection? No. But another 300 or so carry, 1000+ yards, 6+ TD season is in the works. Put it this way, there has been only one back in Parcells entire career that he failed to put over 1000 yards, Hambrick last year. Jones, while talented, is a rookie. And has some issues hanging on to the ball. The glarring black marks to a coach like Parcells. Jones will start in time, but not this year. Parcells will use him as a change-of-pace behind George. Cowboys will run 500+ times, so even if George takes 250-300 of those touches, Jones will get 150-200.

We agree on most everything taking place out of the NFC North division.

Eddie George isn't going to resurrect himself to the point where he gets another 1,500 yard season like he had in his prime. In fact, why are we using the word resurrect, the guy still rushed for 1,000 yards. His team has a good line, a good coach with a good running game plan, and a decent backup running back to take some of the load. Eddie will get over 1,000 yards on 300 carries. Still not the dazzling, gamebreaking running game that every team "has" to have...but when the 'Boys are in pivotal division games with the Eagles or 'Skins, I'd much rather hand the ball to Eddie George than freakin...whoever their running back would have been...Eddie will find a way to pick up "2.5 measley yards" on 3rd and short...great pickup for Dallas,

Great analysis, and I agree. George isn't what he used to be, but he is far from done....
