[GER] DEL: Who's gonna be the topscorer

On another thought, anyone been thinking of who the league's topscorer might be?

I guess we'd have to assume that Lebeau will be the toprunner. Maybe a guy like Fairchild in Berlin or McLwain in Cologne. Of the new guys coming into the league, it seems Steve Kelly or PERHAPS Brian Swanson could take a run at it if all goes well, but it rarely does for the first-year AHL veterans, although both should make an impact.

Due to the styles of their systems, I seriously doubt Purdie or Kreutzer will make a real run at it.

I'm gonna go out on a wing here and say that the race for the top GOALSCORER will be a kneck-and-kneck between Selivanov of Krefeld and Corbet of Mannheim!

I´m going with Lebeau here.

All other names you mentioned are good candidates, too.

For the best 2way player i´d like to nominate Matt Herr - i´m very impressed.

it's tough to predict it that early, because no pre-season games yet and a possible lockout coming.

mike york is a strong candidate if he could play here for a whole season. marco sturm and jochen hecht as well, if they are willing to come back.

but in case of no lockout or just a short one, i agree with lebeau. but it depends on the lions and if they will be able to play as a team for another season which would be the first time ever. ;)

selivanov is my bet, followed by fairchild.

Well, as for top goal scorer, I'd go with Rene Corbet or Dany Bousquet. Top scorer will be a hard race, but I think Lebeau will compete again (warranty void if full season lockout), Healey might be somewhere in there as well, if he can recover his touch in Europe.

Brandon Reid will win the scoreing race, and should top out around 85 pts,, the kid is just to fast and skilled for the league,, and the fans will have a ball watching him play...thats my choice..

85 points in 52 games??? You gotta be kidding me!?:amazed: ;) Last season Pat Lebeau won the scoring race with 69 points, way ahead of Jesse Belanger (54), Dany Bousquet (53) and Bob Wren (53). In 2002/03 Mark Beaufait led the league in points with 54. Brandon Reid will surely make an impact in the DEL and is one of my favorites to win the scoring title but 85 points in one season is not very realistic (at least in my eyes). Other players who should have a chance to be the topscorer are Lebeau and Kelly.

85 points really is a bit much. Sergej Vostrikov was the last one who came close to 80 points with 78 in 2000/01. Before that, there were only five players in DEL-history who managed to score 80+ points (Reichel, Lala, Chabot, Reynolds and Berezin).
Interestingly, they all did it in 1995/96 and played 50 or less games each. Robert Reichel was the only player in league history, who scored more than 90 points (101) and had over two points per game.

In this times you would need one heck of a season to score 70+ points.

@Sanderson

Looks like Lebeau is proving us wrong! 50 points in 27 games! :amazed: If he keeps it going at that pace he'll end up with 90-100 points in the regular season. I never thought that a feat like that would be possible nowadays... Lebeau is just amazing!:bow:
